Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Without that standout toasted caramel maltiness this could very easily pass for an apa. Big on the hoppy scale, the malts are solid and stnadalone but is definitely more biased on the hops. Somewhat sweet and leads into a bitterness that keeps the mouthfeel quite lively and never gets boring. Decent.

(bottle - 12 oz) Hazy amber pour with about a half inch of tan head. Aroma is floral and hoppy with some sweet malts as well. Very bitter taste with lots of hoppy and floral flavors. Slightly bitter and crisp finish and aftertaste. Medium-bodied and very harsh on the tongue.

Meidum orange colored body with a frothy slightly yellowish head. The aroma was grapefruit and a hint of soapy pine. These guys like their hops big and bold. There is also a toffee note. the taste is iced tea with a little bit of mild grapefruit. There is also some light grassy pine in the finish. A nicely done amber with some character.

The bottle poured a slightly hazy amber beverage with nice medium sized smooth head that was mostly lasting and left nice lacing on the glass. My first aromatic impression was of citrus hops. Upon close inspection I could just make out the caramel malt way in the background. Not that it is a bad thing, but this is NOT a "balanced" amber ale. It leans way to the hop side of the scale. It had a medium-to-slightly thin body with lively carbonation and a dry texture. The flavor started off slightly on the bitter side and pretty much stayed there throughout. The finish was dry, long, and slightly bitter.

This beer greets the nose with a nice sweet mild aroma of hops. This beer is a rustic brick colored solution, unfortunately only a sandbar of a head is produced. This beer is moderately thick and tingles the palate with a caramel hops taste. A nice hops taste is left lingering on the palate.

on tap at "Fly Bar" in San Francisco, CA. tastes a bit like a brown ale or Brooklyn Ale. pours a light watered-down ruddy-brown. little to no head. little carbonation. smells of citrus and carmel. tastes of pine hops, caramel malts, clementine (orange). subtle bitterness/hops throughout that kicks at the finish. full mouth-feel. solid and good.

Pours a bright amber color. Aromas of caramel, malt, and citrus. Flavor has a nice balanced taste, some caramel/toffee, and a nice hop finish.

West coast hops aroma and fine malt, deep amber, tiny cream head. Flavour is citrus hops, and great malt. Full bodied, really well balanced, great mouthfeel. Terrific! Thanks mds.

Bottle. Pours a hazy bubbly amber with a small diminishing fizzy white head. Nicely balanced aroma and flavour of mild hops and caramel malt. Quite carbonated and the body’s a tad thin. Although I like many of Speakeasy’s beers more (I prefer their hoppier beers) this is still really good, especially for an Amber, and makes for a great session Ale.

Bottle shared with Ralph, HogTownHarry, blankboy, DougShoemaker & mds - courtesy of mds. Orange amber with a slight haze. Aroma of tea and orange zest. Nice flavour - it’s well-hopped, but with a good malt balance. Yet another solid hoppy US beer...
