3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2007 From the bottle.
Pours a lovely tawny red-brown with a nice head. The aroma is strong on floral piney hops (quite strong for the style -- which is very nice.) The flavor melts an ample helping of toasty malt with a strong bitter and floral hop flavor that leads into a long and very dry finish.
This is a lovely beer, and it’s enough to make me reconsider my biases against amber ales. Upon a second visit, I’m equally as impressed. This one is a Mac-and-Jacks killer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottled) Clear, dark amber color with a small, tight head. Aromatic-nutty-hoppy aroma with some caramely malt. Bitter and quite hoppy, nutty and malty, slightly sour flavor with a bitter, but not very dry finish. Medium-bodied, slightly fizzy-carbonated palate. A nice one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle smuggled back from VA. Nice hops aroma at the beginning. Maltier than a pale ale but not malty enough for a full ale. Well balanced but a little thin. Green fruits in the taste and a bit of a sour finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Henry’s in Portland. Very rich brownish amber color, light off-white head that doesn’t hang around. Very fresh hops on the nose, and a little bit of caramel malt under them. The dominant note on the tongue is definitely the super-fresh, floral hops, though. Body’s a little thin, but balanced enough that the hop delivery mechanism is completely sound. One of the freshest, most plant-like, botanically-correct hop flavors I’ve had in a beer in a while.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled. Not bad, but was very grainy for my mouth. It also had a refreshing citrus flavor. Slight bitter finish.

Pours with a Reddish-brown body topped by a medium thick ehad with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a slight caramel note and a nice hoppy, piney note showing through. Medium bodied and smooth.
