COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Big fat grapefruit rind, big fat caramel nugget, big fat dose of alcohol. A real treat..a surprise!! Seems like this is more at 8%-9%, I haven’t heard this beer even mentioned before. It deserves your attention. Big in every way. YUM!

Copper red, slightly hazy. Coarse head leaving nice lace. Sweet, honey, floral aroma. Good malt backbone, well bittered with a hoppy finish. A little iced tea and a little vegetables. Oily mouthfeel and sits a bit heavy in the stomach. Recommended.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2003 covered below a tainted frothy paradise lay a crystaling lake of blood-orange fluid..The air drifts up from the lake in hoppy and cherry tones..a lonely rind of grapefruit floats across this sea of bitter hop blood on a journey to the creamy dry sky which lured him from afar..

nice big beer. great mixof various flavors that one normally associates with different beer dstyles. it has the malty strenghth of a barleywine, the whisky -like finish of an irish red and the smoothness of an amber.

Almost identical to Alpha King. Rich malt (which reminds me a bit of Pike Place, actually) infused with tremendous lemony hops. Bitter, but again like Alpha King, not overly so.

Very deep burnt orange/brown body with a thin beige head. Wonderfully floral aroma with notes of pine, grapefruit and a malt sweetness as well. Well balanced hop bitterness and caramelly malt sweetness. Very smooth finish.

Good beer. The aroma is lightly malty and heavily floral. This clear amber ale has a medium sized, creamy head. Excellent lacing. Mostly diminishing. The flavor is very malty up front and fairly bitter on the backside. Fizzy. Medium bodied. Watery mouthfeel. Medium length, slightly bitter and a very very dry, crisp finish.

Good stuff. Best beer to come out of San Francisco. Puts Anchor Steam to shame.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2004 Hoppy grapefruit aroma, beautiful glowing clear copper-red color, citrusy hoppy flavor, nice thick creamy mouthfeel reminds me alot of Three Floyds Pale Ale, very tasty and easy drinking. .

Thin head after pouring it from the painted label bottle. Aroma was evident as soon as I cracked the cap off. Taste was far from what I expected, more of an IPA than a (strong) Amber Ale. I enjoyed this beer very much Speakeasy should re-name this brew "Celebration Light" to promote its close taste to Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale.
