3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A finger and half of head on a clear, copper colored body.
The aroma is a malty smell quickly followed by a lemon candy scent.
The taste starts off with moderate sweetness, backed up by a lemon bitterness.
A crisp texture with moderate carbonation and medium body.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Appearance: Rich, red amber; tan, bubbly head; zero lace; low visible carbonation
Smell: Caramel; Molases; Dates; Diacetyl
Taste: Cola; Citrus Hops; kinda like a cheap soda… like Shasta.
Mouth-feel: Medium Carbonation; Thin body; sticky, sugary
Overall: Not good at all. Really disappointed in this one, because I have respect for Speakeasy and generally love their beers. Too bad.

12 oz bottle pours dark red with a off-white head. Bottle from 11/20/13. Dammit. Earthy and caramel. Bland, papery flavor. Gotta get some freshies from these guys.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice amber color but otherwise underwhelming. A bit bready, a bit soapy. A fairly generic amber without a lot of subtlety. Soapiness definitely hangs around.

Ok beer a bit to sweet very little hop character. Maltiness is ok for the style. Was lloking for more hop character from the description.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On draft at Jacob’s Pickles, NYC. Clear amber colored, medium head. Hoppy nose, malts, caramel, some fruit. Pretty sweet flavor, caramel, malts, some bitterness in finish. Despite the hops it felt too sweet for me.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Pine notes and a caramel backbone. Clear amber with a bubbly brown head. Lots of toffee with a resinous hoppy bitterness. Finish is very dry and bitter. The finish is what prevents this beer from being awesome.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. Aroma has caramel and citrus. Hazy, orange-brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweetish, has caramel, citrus and is slightly spicy. Moderate bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep, clear ruby red with a solid tan head and moderate lace. Intensely hoppy aroma barely allows the caramel malt, bold as it is, to come through. Complex flavor profile features caramel, toast and biscuit supporting big hop bitterness, alcohol, pears, raisin, pine and grapefruit. Full body, creamy and sticky mouthfeel, modest carbonation and a mostly bitter finish.

First I loved the art on this label. Microbrews are like books, it is the picture on the cover that catches your eye first. The beer itself wasn’t bad to look at either.
It poured a nice copper/amber color with a thick tan head. It had an aroma that reminded me a little of grapefruit. It had a light feel and tasted of malt, citrus, and hops. This beer had the mouth feel of a lager but the look of an amber ale, but the taste was something in between. This is not at all a complaint of course, as you can tell from my rating.
