Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

12oz bottle poured a clear amber red color with a nice size head and good lacing. Aromas of sweet caramel malts and citrus hops. Has a good balance with a firm bitterness. Has a dry hoppy finish with the alcohol out of the picture.

Pours a nice amber color with an off-white head. Hops, citrus, and malt hit the nose. Nice hoppy taste, with not too much bite. Smooth, but not much other flavor than the hops. Still, quite refreshing.

Had from 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine and More. Pours standard amber color of an amber ale, good tan/off-white head, nice carbonation and lacing. Aroma is pretty standard amber with tons of malts, bread, caramel, and faint addition of hops. Taste is well balanced, perhaps just a bit too many malts for my liking. Would have liked just a little more hop bitterness to even it out. Flavor is mostly sweet, malty, hints of some caramel, but just not enough hops for me. A good amber ale though. Very representative of the style. Nothing extreme or out of the ordinary.

Copper pour, nice lacing on the glass. Delicious aroma of citrus and spice; "aggressive" hoppiness (as the brewer says) could be better balanced with stronger malty undertones -- as a result, it has a somewhat surprising lightness to it. Hop bitterness and spiciness linger long after the glass is empty. Would make a good session beer. I like this quite well and will look for it again.

Nice medium-amber color but the head was quite thin and dissipated quickly. Aroma is a nice combination of hops and caramel maltiness. Firm malt floor comes immediately to the fore, mostly caramel but with a hint of roastiness, which gives way way to a persistent and pleasant hop dryness that lingers through the tapered finish. The body is quite acceptable---moderate---and is again a nice balance of liveliness and substance. Overall, this is quite pleasant---not truly distinctive in any fashion, but certainly thoughtfully crafted.

12 oz bottle from New Seasons - Very nice aroma. A bit malty to the taste, but has a very pleasant drinking sensation. Caramel flavor, and has more hops than Lamar Odom.

Draft at Toad in the Hole. Clear red-orange with small, lasting, irregular, foamy top. Mild citrus and warm grain aroma. Sharp mineral character underscores a crunchy bitterness, but subtle caramel provides some balance. Finishes clean if a little less than bright.

Very deep burnt orange/brown body with a thin beige head. Wonderfully floral aroma with notes of pine, grapefruit and a malt sweetness as well. Well balanced hop bitterness and caramelly malt sweetness. Very smooth finish.

11/27/03. Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, bought at Liquorama in Upland, CA 10/15/03. Pours lightly hazy, dark honey amber color. Good, mostly dense but somewhat rocky, cream-colored head that lingers quite awhile with mediocre lacing. Beer looks pretty thick and slick. Nose is of bright, fruity hops and malt, honey and some biting berry. Also doughy. Very nice and enticing. Initial taste is lightly effervescent and suprisingly thin-bodied. Nice crisp bitterness and almost floral quality, but it fades pretty quickly. Quite drying, and slightly musty and dusty. Finish goes kind of flat and is only moderately long except for a very slight lingering bitterness without much character to it. A disappointment of a finish after a promising beginning. Somewhat surprised to find it was an amber ale and not a pale, but I guess it shares characteristics of both (though it is distinctly amber in color). Easy drinking, but not all that exciting.
