COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Speakeasy Prohibition Ale 12 oz bottle Recent bottling, medium pour in an English pint glass. Poured orange red with a small beige frothy mostly diminishing head with traces of lacing. Smelt of strong caramel with light citrus. Taste was upfront moderate sweet caramel with light roasted and nutty highlights and light grassy bitter hops followed by a moderate citrusy hop kick on a light dry bready malt with a long bitter finish. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, oily, lively carbonated wit hlight astringency. Overall, an amber that flows nicely from rich caramel maltiness to bold citrusy hopiness. Finish is way too balanced towards hops though.

on tap at "Fly Bar" in San Francisco, CA. tastes a bit like a brown ale or Brooklyn Ale. pours a light watered-down ruddy-brown. little to no head. little carbonation. smells of citrus and carmel. tastes of pine hops, caramel malts, clementine (orange). subtle bitterness/hops throughout that kicks at the finish. full mouth-feel. solid and good.

Copper red, slightly hazy. Coarse head leaving nice lace. Sweet, honey, floral aroma. Good malt backbone, well bittered with a hoppy finish. A little iced tea and a little vegetables. Oily mouthfeel and sits a bit heavy in the stomach. Recommended.

Poured amber with a creamy head. Pleasant hoppy aroma. Flavor has sweet malt, but mostly grapefruit hops, a little pine. Very nice.

bottle. Sampled with IM’s Rock in Rio blasting, hence perceptions might be altered. Pours a nice medium copper/amber color, clear, nice foamy inch of head that takes plenty of time to clear. Nose is loads of sticky-sweet caramel malt. Mostly. Some light floral hop presence in the background, with only faint hints of bitterness. Flavor... kinda falls flat. Thin caramel sweetness and light floral hop notes. Not much going on in the flavor department, to be honest. Not bad, but not enough there to really be "good". Palate is smooth and clean, if a bit on the thin side. Meh. Overall, not a bad beer- but also never makes it to being a good beer, either.

Nice amber color with a small tan head. Hops aroma but does not overwhelm. Hops are balance with a very mellow malt that has a nice sweet taste of sugar. The body is medium the texture thin and a slightly bitter finish. Enjoyed this beer because of the malt.

Great aroma of floral hops. Taste is very well balanced. Malty but the hops come through. Very enjoyable beer.

Very nice amber. Actually, one of the best of the style I have tried. Why? I love the assertive hops first of all. Most ambers I try are wussy in the hop department. Prohibition is doing something illegal with these hops man. Yet the beer is backed by a fairly solid caramel malt bakbone, providing decent balance.
