Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Bottle. Very hoppy amber. Pours copper with some head which disappears quickly. Very nice citrus aroma. Although more hops than typical amber, still was worth it. Needs something to smooth out the bitterness however.

Nice bottles on these beers. The Prohibition is a nice amber/red with floaties. Nose--grapefruit definitely. Quite hoppy for an Amber, like Bells. Almost tastes like an IPA. Nice mellow flavor, bitter aftertaste, leaving the mouth tasting of grapefruit rind. (My friends compare this mostly to Bells Two Hearted Ale.)

Hurray for me, my 100th review. Quick story: this was my first craft beer ever, first had it about 8 years ago at the age of 16 (not that im promoting underage drinking) although during that time I hated quality beer took me awhile to get in to good beer. OK then, A: Fresh pine and some grapefruit hits you first, but it is quickly followed by dark caramel malts, some toasted biscuitt and figs along with some alcohol that was able to sneak in there. P: A dark amber with a flan colored head. T: Starts off similar to the smell, the hops hit you first, some tropical punch, and citrus. What comes after that is a malt attack, toasted biscuitt, grains, nuts, pumpernickle, some citrus is still hanging there but the strong caramel malt will ultimately dominate this it finishes with some grassy bitterness. M: Very light, with light/medium carbonation. O: A good beer, but I have come along way, im not big with amber ales and this is no exception. Also im not a huge fan of beers that battle hops and malt I usually like malty or hoppy. I will buy this again just not right now.

The bottle poured a slightly hazy amber beverage with nice medium sized smooth head that was mostly lasting and left nice lacing on the glass. My first aromatic impression was of citrus hops. Upon close inspection I could just make out the caramel malt way in the background. Not that it is a bad thing, but this is NOT a "balanced" amber ale. It leans way to the hop side of the scale. It had a medium-to-slightly thin body with lively carbonation and a dry texture. The flavor started off slightly on the bitter side and pretty much stayed there throughout. The finish was dry, long, and slightly bitter.

The hoppiness in this beer is more in the nose than the bitterness. Otherwise, the hops lened more of a spiciness and woody character instead of plain old bitterness. Most likely dry-hopped extensively.

pours a nice redish brown with a fluffy small head. This beer has a complex mix of sweetness and hoppyness, there are piney hops, carmel sweetness, citrus sweetness, it is lightly earthy with medium bitter aftertaste.

Deep reddish amber. Aroma is caramel and citrus. Flavour is well malted with strong grapefruit of cascade hops. One of the best ambers.

Draft deep coppery red brown with full thick light beige head that lasts and laces throughout Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is an interesting blend of caramel sweetness and hoppy balance. Medium carbonation and full body

12oz bottle: poured into a glass a slighty dark amber with a decent head that lasted about halfway through the beer. aroma was slighty hoppy and a bit of malt. flavor was that of a pretty good amber with a little more hops then others in this style of beer. im a big fan of IPAs and like the exrta hops a lot its not enough to be up there with and of the avg IPA but did notice a few more hops.
