COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Another great beer from Speakeasy. Not as easily defined as the Big Daddy. But a big bright hoppy ale.

On tap: Copper hue with nice off-white head and excellent lace. Big piney aroma with minor hints of buttered toast, orange zest and twangy yeast. Taste intially was very potent piney hops but a nice dose of caramel malts added a pleasent balance. Dry, bitter, and slightly astringent finish. The mouthfeel is smooth yet not boring. Damn, this is a Speakeasy brew I was hoping for. Highly recommended.

NIce aroma of citrusy hop with underlying malt. Beautiful copper/amber color with a light tan head. Starts with wonderful hops, mostly citrusy, followed by a thrust of malt, ending with very nice bitterness, possibly with some pine coming past the citrus. It’s all in the perception. There’s some sort of tobacco type spice? in the finish? Maybe it’s a bit of herbal note. There’s something there. Really very good.

An excellent amber ale - hoppy, balanced malt, and a wonderful "pure" beer taste. Just an excellent brew!

A near perfect beer. What struck me most about this brew was the striking balance of malt and bitter flavors. It’s almost bitter and then comes back extra smooth and malty. The balanced flavor and excellent smoothness make this one of my very favorite beers. I will buy again and again.

Pours an amber orange with a nice foamy, off white head. This brew had a good amount of carbonation. Very hoppy aroma. Smooth hoppy taste. This was a damn good brew.

(8Mar2003--draft) Now this is what an ale is supposed to be! Almost as good as Arrogant Bastard, but less arrogant. Deep, inviting amber color, nice lacy head. Cascades mingle with fruity esters in the nose, though both in perfect amounts. Wonderful malt spectrum, very akin to Deschutes Jubelale in terms of its excellent use of specialty malts. Easily a top-10 beer for me.

Beautiful amber hue, flowery aroma. Caramel malt flavor with a sharp, hoppy flavor and a long bitter finish. Better as it warms, very tasty.

Man, the hop aroma hits you the moment you pop open the bottle! Poured with a light beige head that dissipated into a thin layer after a few minutes; some lacing. Nice clear deep gold-amber color. Spicy-citrusy hop aroma dominates with malt and caramel underneath. Bold hop flavor start to finish; malt sweetness appears soon after the start and dries out towards the finish. Slightly rough hop bitterness and vegetal character linger in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with creaminess from the gentle carbonation. At cooler temps the hop character is quite assertive and tends to dominate the malt character. Drink at 55F for a nicer balance.

Hops throughout the aroma. No head. The haps are in this so much to the point that it makes you think of an APA more than an amber. And I’m not complaining. A little caramel in the finish.
