Prohibition Ale is a boldly hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

The first thing that strikes me about this beer is it’s lovely copper red color but it unfortunately goes down a bit from there. The nose has a nice floral hop presence but nothing too vibrant or striking. This is a bit on the sweet side and well balanced but the finish is a bit metallic which really diminishes the overall experience. The texture is nice and creamy and not too thick as not to be drinkable but because of that harsh bitterness it is hard to enjoy fully.

Bottle from Sake Taniguchi (World Beer Market). Gentle caramel nose, tiny dark fruit notes, a bit spicy. Brown/ amber color, light tan head. Medium-strength maltiness, mild piney hops, some caramel, and a balanced finish. Thin, wth a very soft mouthfeel. Light, and balanced from mid palate onwards. Good.

Fantastic for an amber ale. Nice hop definition without it being overly aggressive. Bready malt background with some nice residual sweetness. Picked this up in SF in 2014.

It’s ok. Bitter pale ale without any much over the top hops. Not enough aroma for good balance

22 oz bomber poured into a shaker glass. Reddish copper colour with light tan head. Nice malt/caramel aroma with alight fruit/earthy notes. Taste is very malt forward with nice hop bitterness. Very smooth aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle. Aroma of citrusy hops, yeast and nutty malt. Taste is rich and crisp. Caramel malt, tangerine hops and red berries nicely balanced on the pallet. Starts sweet. Then finish is long, dry and moderately bitter. Good carbonation. A very tasty and solid amber.

Bottle from wittales. Clear amber pour, offwhite head, spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel mostly - some cherry, some light pine hops, some jolly rancher candy, but mostly amber caramel. Moderately sweet, light bitterness. Medium body, slick texture. Overall: solid amber.

@ The Ginger Man à Manhattan. En fût. Bière ambrée foncée avec une mousse blanche. Une drôle d’odeur de savon se dégage de cette bière. Des effluves de caramel sont aussi présentes. La bouche est malheureusement dans le même registre avec du savon au caramel.
