RBSG09 on tap at the brewery. Dark brownish amber color with a thick lacy ecru head. Aroma is milk chocolate and rye bread crusts. Flavor is creamy brown malts and chocolate with a light rye spiciness. Excellent balance, just enough sweetness. Seems to get better as it breathes a bit. Huge drinkability for the 8% abv.

8/10/09 from draft sample bottle. Aroma is malt forward with substantial caramel, medium roast and very slight sourness. Appearance is clear reddish copper with a medium maintained off-white head and foam lacing. Flavor is sweet, almost candilike malt forward with a great blend of roast and noble hop spiciness to balance. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a touch of creaminess and medium carb texture that blends with a light graininess and warmth. Overall, a suprisingly full bodied and and flavored rye beer with a punch that sets it apart in almost every regard.

On tap at Speakeasy for the RBSG 2009, this dark brown pour has a nice balance between hops and malt. Good rye influence makes this tasty.

Great looking amber hued brown body. Thick ecru head. Wonder rye spice character that is somewhat grainy with good chocolate notes and some light hints of almond and coffee.

Draught at the brewery during RBSG09. Dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Spicy rye bread aroma. The flavor is malty and sweet with spicy rye, some chocolate, lower bitterness and light citric hop flavor. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. The spicy and chocolate notes are a great combo.

quite enjoyable. fairly dark brown with orange highlights. sweet aroma of dark fruit and caramel. the rye comes through in the taste with some roastiness. lighter and more drinkable then expected at 8.1% ABV.
