3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pours a dark coffee brown with a thin tan head the dissipates quickly. Sweet caramel and chocolate with some roasted malts making an appearance on the nose. The taste is slightly sweet chocolate and molasses with a roasty then bittersweet finish. It’s medium and slick in body with a very soft carbonation level. Overall I enjoyed this beer. Maybe a touch too boozy to be easy drinking but it wasn’t a struggle to finish the bomber. I’d get it again.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
22oz bottle courtesy of one generous trader who I cannot remember at the moment, thanks! Dark black, little head, standard stout look. Smells a little sweet and roasty but rather boring overall, not bad just average. Taste is really lackluster, not bad just one of the most average imperial stouts I’ve had. I guess I’d say the flavor is just not very robust which is what I would expect from an imperial stout. Yes it has a roast character, yes it is sort of viscous but it just didn’t seem very good.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap, Amsterdam Cafe, San Francisco, 15/08/12. Heavy, serious raisiny cocoa, leather, berries and prune aroma. Filthy pitch capped with creamy tan; full, thick-textured mouthfeel. Deep and sweet with burnt fig and vanilla pod, raisin and black chocolate. Massive Struise-like balance, red apple dipped in Lindt and true stoutiness. Bittersweet but lingeringly bitter. So good I had another.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle for $4.95, great deal. Dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is lots of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, pine resin, coffee and some faint oak. Flavor is bitter roast and hops with dark chocolate, coffee and a light alcohol warming. Full body with average carbonation and a dry, roasty finish. This is a really nice beer, lots of bitterness balanced out by the malt and alcohol. This is a steal for the price.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Roasted and coffee aromas eminate from this black brew. Brown head lies clinging to the edges. Big burnt flavors but not dry as expected. Excellent body with a clean finish. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Nearly pitch black, large pillowy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Cocoa nose, roasty, a little graham cracker and hops.   Not getting the bourbon or oak on the nose.   Soft sweet milk stout like start, roasty but not heavy, soft bitterness, apple skin, a little molasses and sour dark pitted fruit.   A touch chalky.   Not a heavy stout, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes with a chocolate malt profile, graham cracker, with a touch of sour dark pitted fruit.   Despite all the special attention to this beer, it seems fairly mediocre.   As it warms the chocolate/cocoa comes out even more.   Finish becomes more cocoa oriented.   Low hop, decent malt base, like an Imperial Milk Stout or something.   Decent, but nothing out of the ordinary.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Taps. Pours opaque black, thin to moderate pale tan head, lovely lacing. Nose is fine cigars, ash, creosote, licorice, black chocolate, espresso, ink, graphite. Flavours of Bakers chocolate, spice, chicory. Very tight, solid, Impy Stout. Would love to try a bottle at a couple of years old, as I feel this could open up into something rally phenomenal. Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain a bottle. I am the Sad Moo...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle that poured dark brown, aromas of chocolate, caramel, light vanilla, and subtle bourbon. Flavors are the same, nice oak flavor, not much booziness as the aroma suggests. Nice beer overall.
