3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Pours nearly black with a small, creamy, beige head. The flavor is a robust assortment of dark chocolate, Cuban espresso, deeply roasted malts and toasted tree nuts. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor supplies a truckload of medium-bitter scorched malts and charcoal. Lengthy, burnt, bitter finish. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!

Bottle. Nice dark chocolate aroma up front with some nice earthyness and smoke undertones. Good looking, full body and a long finish. This beer offers a nice pint but isn’t anything particularly special.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: dark with a nice espresso foam colored head that retains rather well & foams up with a swirl of the glass
Aroma: chocolate witha slight hint of anise
Flavor: a definite chocolate & maltiness combines for the makings of a fine beer out of SF
Palate: full & thick with a long chocolate finish that lingers
I’ve only had a few different beers from Speakeasy even though my wife is from the Bay Area... they just weren’t a brewery that we went out of our way to try too often, but finding this imperial stout would have me looking more into their other styles to try.

This one those beers. You know, its good, but I still have half a bottle in the fridge and the prospect of finishing it isn’t exactly thrilling. At any rate it’s a well made imperial stout. I don’t think I need to describe it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook. He was in McCall, Iowa and I in Illinois. The poured very dark and was almost black. The aroma was chocolate with roasted notes. The flavor was that with a biting spicy aspect. At first it tasted like pepper. I realized it was hop based. Those hops were citrus but I am still not sure how it gave this beer such a bite. I did like it. Roasted notes, cocoa, citrus, and that bite were the four legs that this beer stood on. Nicely done. I liked it.

Amazing and strong stout. Very bitter and a bit of tobacco throughout the palate. Not a hint of sweetness in this one.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wow. This thing is pretty nice. 2013 bomber pours jet black with ample brown head. This is your typical impy stout, but with so much more character. Notes of vanilla, cocoa, wood, earth, tobacco, and smoke. The oak aging adds a perfect facet to this beer without overpowering it. Finish with a dry/acrid cold smoke flavor. Really enjoyed this.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2013 Pours a dark black color with an intense deep coffee aroma. Taste is rich with caramel and coffee coming straight through. A slight chili spice lingers on the tongue after the swallow, leaving a bitter bite. The alcohol content is evident with this beer. An Imperial Stout that is complex and bites back.

Very dark pour, brown head. Charred oak, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, prunes, molasses, lots of hops. Not quite integrated well enough.
