3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served from a 22 oz bottle from OTM. The appearance is a deep brown-black with a medium foam brown head. The nose is deep roasted malts with coffee grinds and dark fruit sugars. The flavors have a sweet malts, sugary dark fruits, prunes, anise. Can be a bit over sweet at times. Full mouth with a good carbonation that sometimes feels too much with the peppery feel from the anise flavors. A good IRS.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop: Poured an evil dark black while a tan colored head formed on top only to retreat moments later. The nose is lush and robust with a rich aroma of perfectly roasted black malts with a hint of lactose to balance and sweeten the coffee presence. The drink is mind blowing with a bold delivery of roasted coffee bean and bitter sweet chocolate that mesh together in harmony. Also, in the finish there is a thick taste of roast coffee that just hits the spot and sends satisfaction signals to my brain. Prime example of what an Imperial stout should be. I’m sort of surprised it was brewed by Speak Easy, but I will be keeping my eye on future releases.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Pi Bar. Big, intense looking black pour with a thick one-finger tan head. Interesting aroma of roast, dark chocolate, anise, oak, and bourbon. The flavor is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with dark chocolate, molasses, bourbon, earth, and licorice. Full bodied with average carbonation for the style and a slightly tannic mouthfeel. Some boozy warmth. Fills you the hell up. Solid effort from Speakeasy.
