Thin frothy tan head of very fine bubbles. Roasted malt aroma with some smoked peat, black cherries and toast. Color is a very dark brown with good clarity. Dry and roasty flavor with more toast, roasted grains, dried flowers and some cough syrup. Mild alcohol presence. Finishes smooth, dry and slightly bitter. A decent brew.

On tap. Clear light brown color with ivory head. Big toasted rye bread, nutty, mild chocolate aromas. Light body with average carbonation. Decent chewy rye toast flavors with mild nutty, chocolate flavors___nicely bitter finish---not bad.

patxa (182) - MEXICO - DEC 7, 2013
Weak conventional aromas of a pale ale. Dark ruby looks with nice carbonation. Not too much head and no lace. Both dry and sweet malty notes combined with a certain spiciness on the tongue. Good palate with more spicy hints and a good lasting finish. A bit corny towards the end.

A mahogany red ale with a thin creamy mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with faint floral hops, OK. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with grassy hops, a bit light. On tap at Beer Authority.

Bottle - dark ruby - thick but short-lived head - unlike most rye beers, which are more like red ipas with some rye, this is really more a showcase for rye malt - creamy texture - spicy and earthy rye nose, reminiscent of rye whiskey - flavor is toasty and spicy rye, earth, caramel - finish has some peppery hops, but again, the rye is the star and is showcased well - tasty.

Foamy light tan head. Gorgeous ruby colored body. Crystal clear. Hoppy aroma. Not overly piney. Flavors of black pepper, slightly peachy. Hop character in the after taste. Normal body mouthfeel. Nice. Would like to try on draft to see if there’s any difference.
