Drinking from a bottle. Really nice with some good hops and sweetness and a little spice. Leaves a spiciness that lasts.

The Bodega, Bushwick tap ($6): Pour a mahogany brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is rye, spice, a healthy dosage of hops, some dirt, and a bit of toffee. Taste is pretty nice. Nice amounts of rye malt balanced against the nice west coast hoppiness. Kind of bitter. Sessionable and well-balanced.

Bottle. Appearance: clear copper, red head with sudsy off white head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, toasted malt, citrus hops and some spicy rye. Taste: citrus floral hops up front, toasted malt and breadiness in middle, ending spicy rye and dried tea leaf bitterness. Mouthfeel: medium creamy body with medium carbonation. Overall: fair. Decent malt/rye/hop balance but nothing outstanding. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/14/13

Aroma: The nose has floral/citrus hops, rye bread, resiny notes, and some spice
Appearance: Pours a clear reddish color with an inch of frothy beige head and drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is on the dry side, with plenty of rye, decent hop bitterness, and a some spice
Palate: This one has light-medium body, with lively carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was pretty solid. It’s a rye beer with a plenty decent hop profile. It’s pretty drinkable. This one is nothing amazing, but there isn’t much not to like.

Tap. Reddish brown body with a nice head that left a nice lacing. Caramel, floral, spice, hop. Medium body with nice carbonation. Good beer.

Bottled - 09/21/12. Pours clear amber red with a large fizzy beige head that mostly dissipates with minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel, spicy rye, resinous hops. Flavor is about the same, medium sweet and lightly bitter, with just a touch of rye spiciness and perhaps a light chemical aftertaste. Not too bad, actually.

12oz. bottle from a special mixed 12 pack. Pours clear bright orange-red with smallish off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some floral highlights, then I get the rye spice as it warms with a little toasted grain. Taste is sweet up front with caramel malt flavors in middle. Finishes dry with resin hops, tart and tight in aftertaste. Body was thinner than average, good tingle from carbonation in the middle. I like it!

Malty rye ale. Bottle at taboun middle eastern joint. Has a slightly soapy hop flavors hen combined with the high carbonation ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Big fire engine red color, the head both well bodied and staying. The initial aroma is sweet and perfumed, not at all as expected. This drinks with an odd sour funkiness right up front; there’s not much oomph behind it either. So despite the dark, moody appearance, this drinks like some funky sweet flower, not the most enjoyable assembly. (#4887, 1/5/2013)

Bottle. Dark red/brown color with a light foam white head (not thick).. Taste is slighty bready, spicy and hops, but a little watered down to me, but not in the aftertaste. Decent
