3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Barreras (604) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Pours a caramel brown and red color with a sweet hops aroma. Taste is sweet and spicy. The start of the beer is mildly sweet then after the swallow I get a spiced malt flavor. A very easy drinking beer that went down smoothly.

Bottle from Bytemesis, this is an interesting one, it tastes like a tootsie roll. I’m not sure how Rye or hops form to make tootsie rolls nor have I experienced it before, but this is definitely the flavor it leaves my mouth not feeling like tootsie rolls thank goodnes.s
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 burleybrew (15) - - APR 3, 2013
On tap at Maxwell’s. A flavorful ale with a great balance between hop presence, aroma, & bite with a nice caramel backbone. Not dissapointed by this one.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 cduncan14 (52) - Sandy Springs, Georgia, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Sweet, roasty aromas that remind me of sweet tea with lemon, and maybe a hint of bourbon. It’s a deep reddish-brown color with a very nice off white head. This is a delicious beer! A sweet malty start that grabs you with citrusy hops and finishes exactly how you want a rye ale to finish; spice and sweetness. As a lover of red ales, I’ve gotta say that this is one of my favorites.

Mild hops. Prominent spices. Pretty dark red and translucent. Not much foam when poured.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DTM (652) - Winters, California, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Bottle from the Co-op in Davis, CA. I’ve never been a huge fan of rye beers. It is solid with full hop character, but that rye flavor just turns me off. Pretty big on the palate. If you like harsh IPA’s then try it.

Drought. Reddish brown color, beige foamy small head, doughy aroma, balanced hoppy taste with a hint of cherry, long finish. Very reminiscent of a good IPA.

Similar to red rocket ale. Good stuff. I think I prefer the red rocket a little more, but a decent contender.
