Speakeasy opted for a twist on its perennial favorite, Payback Porter. The brewers took inspiration from the traditional Masala Chai tea, brewing the dark porter with a combination of vanilla bean, ginger, cardamom, clove and black pepper.

Draft at Rattle n Hum. Pours near black with a beige head. Lighter roasted malts, cinnamon and chai tea spices, with moderate sweetness throughout. Balanced and restrained integration of the spices. Very drinkable.

Tap @ Holiday Ale Fest 2012... Poured black with a khaki head. Spruce and anise with chair spice on the nose. Roasty with some bitterness. Lots of chai spice here. This worked well with noticeable cinnamon and toasted malt sugars. Cookie-dough gingerbread too. Nicely done.
