nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 18, 2009 12 oz. Clear and shiny burnt orange with little tiny bubbles persisting as if it were a photo-op. Nose is pleasantly bold with a blend of grapefruit, honeycomb, cereal grain and resin. Taste is similar but has much more resin and peppery dried wood. Light medium body is a bit too frothy at times and nearly astringently dry. blipp (1612), Newark, New Jersey, USA Sep 8, 2009 Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Floral hoppy aroma with some sweet malts. The flavor has grainy sweet malts with a balancing hop presence. A decent APA. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Sep 1, 2009 Tap at Rattle n Hum: Deep golden pour with a white film of head. Grassy zesty aroma with a lemon rind note and soft caramel malts. Has a light end of a medium body. Some cookieish malts (like many of this brewery’s beers) Has a soft caramel sweetness that meshes with mild zesty hop notes of lemon grass (feels like centennial hops). Has a peppery back. Not bad. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Aug 16, 2009 Now this was a damn good brew. Pours a dark golden with a bubbly white head. Good hoppy, grapefruity nose. Crisp, hoppy taste with a nice grassy finish. Damn good pale ale. Would drink this again any day of the week. ben4321 (948), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 6, 2009 Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm’s, 8/6/09
Aroma: Caramel, toffee, toasty malts, a bit of bread, light hops
Appearance: Clear amber color, one finger white head, some lacing
Flavor: Similar to the nose, malty mostly, some light hops for balance
Palate: Light to Medium in body, an OK mouthfeel, a bit thin
Overall Impression:
Not a super exciting beer, it’s a decent malty pale, but lacking in hops in my opinion. Not bad, just not bringing a ton to the table, it is a little of bland.
michael-pollack (2598), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of toasted malts, slight caramel, and a tiny bit of hops. Poured amber/orange in color with a small, creamy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Lightly sparkling. Many tiny particles throughout. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, caramel, toasting, and a hint of hops. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Toasted malt and light caramel finish is lightly dry. Bland. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jul 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours an orange golden body with a white head. Grainy cereal notes, light dried fruit, hints of pine and citrus. Thin and simple. BeerBunker (594), Burbank, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2009 Updated: Jul 7, 200912oz bottle. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is of hops, malt, and citrus. Taste starts off with an earthy hop bite. It also has lots of citrus and spice. Backbone of bready malt evens the beer out. Lingering taste of earthy hops and dirt. Mouthfeel is light and carbonated. Nothing too special about this beer. It drinks easy, but it’s nothing special.
