3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange color, long lasting (but small) head. Citrusy scent. Much, much more balanced than I'd expected. The hops and the malt match up beautifully, making this an easy drinking beer. Nice creamy feel to it too.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2003 Bottled. Amber colour, little head. Big pleasant grapefruiy, resiny aroma. Dry and extremely clean. The malt flavour is so short and sharp it leaves you with a metallic mouthfeel. Typical APA bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2005 Rerate: Good, upon multiple visits. Recalibration is necessary in the palate and appearance scores. Original: At the Brick in DC. Great and hoppy, but not quite unidimensional. Aroma: some grapefruit. Flavor begins to get balanced after some settling in. Almost creamy -- nice palate. Speakeasy has a ’house character’, methinks.

Rich golden body withnice off-white head. Delicious citrus hoppy aroma, slightly sweet. Flavor is more muted, some hoppiness, a bit of sweetness. Pleassant but a relative disappointment after the wonderful aroma.

Light gold color, medium head. A medium bodied pale ale. Malty and fairly hoppy. Somewhat floral. Good malt to hop balance. Full flavor. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer. Etched beer bottle.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Slightly less hoppy than Alpha King, but probably better. Nice balance provides a clean, crisp taste. Can’t wait to try the other Speakeasy stuff.
