tiggmtl (4155), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 18, 2008 Strong citrus hops in the nose (lime, tangerine) with some spicy pine and a deep underlying caramel malt character. Slightly hazy deep golden body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, off white head that recedes slowly to a lasting cover with some nice lacing. Sweet caramel malts balance well with strong tangerine and pine hops that offer moderate bitterness. Medium body is just a bit slick and oily in texture but strong carbonation helps to relieve this. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Mar-08).
RunDWP (104), San Jose, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy orange color with thin white head. Sweet caramel and slight floral aroma. Flavor is sweet, caramel malt flavors balanced very nicely by the hops. Perhaps a little fizzy but that is a minor quibble. Really nice pale ale. urbnhautebourg (930), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Jun 24, 2008 Nice, sweet and sticky APA that I really enjoyed. No new trails blazed with this. It’s just your basic hop-focused West Coast ale. Very nice. bulletrain76 (492), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Deep gold with a hint of orange colored body with some lasting foam. Quite floral, citrusy, and slightly tropical aroma, with an underlying honey sweetness. The flavor has a sweet hooney and bread-like maltiness, with hop flavors of grapefruit peel and very light pine needles, but lacks much hop bitterness. The body feels full and chewy-- a little more than I would like. It brings down the drinkability a little. Nice flavors, but a little leaner and crisper, and I would enjoy it a little more. JoeMcPhee (3628), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 12 oz bottle. Very pale straw colour. Thin white head. Aroma is of sweet caramel malt, soft cookie dough sweetness and a nice light citrus/grapefruit hoppiness. Malts remind me of Flying Dog, but the hops are substantially brighter. Grapefruit and doughy malt flavour. Good balance. It’s on the sweet malty side of the APA category, but it’s quite nice nonetheless. DuffMan (1868), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 10, 2008 Hazy golden yellow. Less fruity, more grassy than the amber, a touch vegetal. Less sweet and more bitter than the amber. Nice, but the amber outshone this by far.
