4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at RnH in NYC with Andrew. The top beer sampled that day out of 11. Hands down, one of the best and most interesting porters. Pours a standard dark brown body. Aroma is roast and tart. Mouthfeel is medium to full, very complex with notes of wine barrels, roasted cherries, sourness, and tartness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep amber pour with a thick white head. The nose is pretty nice with a soft barrel earthiness/oakiness and a fairly distinct vineousness. A kiss of light fruit and a soft herbal back note as well. Not really tannic but it’s heavy in that direction. As it warms up the barrel really comes to the fore. A light fruity vineousness with a soft earthy cocoa character on the back. Leathery dryness on the back, despite all of the rich maltiness. Long lingering finish.

On tap at rattle n hum. Tons of red wine... This one most insane porters I have ever had. One of the best porter I’ve ever had. Ultra experimental and executed flawlessly. Sour and smokey, cherries and malt.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at City Beer in SF. Pours dark brown and fairly flat with no head, just a few bubbles. Very nice aroma with red wine, roasted malt, oak, and mildly tart red berries. Flavor is also great. The base beer and red wine from the barrel meld really well. Roasted and caramel malt, coffee notes, somewhat tannic red wine and other dark fruits, as well as oaky barrel flavors. Mildly acidic on the palate with medium body and very low carbonation (but not totally flat). Very good beer from Speakeasy.
