Pitch black pour with a brownish head. Has a little sweaty aroma that I canít place. sweet brown sugar with burnt toast, caramel and some chocolate. I donít get much in terms of belgian yeasts or orange peel, unless that is where the sweaty aroma originates from. Toasty bitter on the palate with a medium body and a faster than expected flavour profile. A tad watery in the mid palate. some coffee grounds and bitter chocolate with a sweet cocoa note too. Glad I didnít buy the six pack that they were selling it in. Not the best of the style iíve had.

Pours black with a big frothy dark brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, bitter chocolate and coriander. Taste is roasted malts with bitter chocolate. Coriander and light yeast characteristics. A little thin on the body.

355ml bottle. Pours black with a lovely dark cocoa powder coloured head. Earthy/molasses forward aromas up front with a very faint spearmint note, rum, a pretty boozy nose given the %, and a strange smell that reminds me a bit of rice crackers. As for taste, the rice cracker taste is up front with dark coffee, a light raisin note, and light ash that leads into a molasses, dark coffee heavy middle that carries through to the bitter finish. Pretty dry for a "sweet stout". Remove the distracting "rice cracker" element, and you could most definitely call this is a solid beer.

355ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. Pours an opaque black colour with one finger of light brown head. Aroma of coffee and a whiff of banana. First I get the espresso and in the middle the Belgian yeast comes in (which is very confusing after tasting the typical stout notes) and finishes off moderately dry and spicy. Two of my favorite styles collided in a well balanced drink. I would recommend this interesting style of beer to anyone who likes stouts & Belgian Ales.

Bottle from the lcbo. Black pour, with a dark mocha head. Quite a roasty nose, but I canít find any orange peel or coriander. The aroma is quite sweet also, with a distinct Belgian dubbel Metallica, mineral dry malts aroma. The finish is quite dry, lightly bitter with nice semi sweet roasty notes. A cross between a dubbel and a stout. Roasty, yet malty and dry.

Pours a real dark brown colour with hardly any highlights. Great big beige head, frothy, long lasting and full of lacing. Aromas of chocolate and cocoa at first. Then, it makes room for the roasted malts, which also gives out apples and yeast. The taste is mixed between the roasted malts, burnt grains and the notes of oranges which are quite mild in the finish. Even hints of liquorice. I quite like this brew. Nothing out of this world, but was expecting a boring mild stout.

Black as a Monks scapular with a thick, frothy head that dissipates quickly. Smoky banana, espresso, dark fruits, Belgian spices and a bit of chocolate. Smooth but also quite light. Could use a bit more oomph but likeable.

Pours jet black with a massive mohagany head. Aroma notes includes chocolate, espresso, and some yeast. Tasting notes include chocolate, orange, and coffee. The body of this beer is a tad light, and finishes with some floral notes.

Bottle. Dark brown, average tan head. Fruity yeast and spice dominate this beer. Ripe banana, coriander, chocolate, maybe a kiss of aniseed. Not very stouty...

5.8% Brown mudy head(different look to the head from other beerís)unfiltered jet black(really nice looking beer)smell some fruit, espresso & spice. Starts off heavy bodied, thick & thin, some roastedness, some spice, a little fruityness that pops up off and on and then eventually drys out some. Taste and feels stronger then 5.8% Cheerís. 2 thumbs UP to unfilteredness & stouts.
