COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing the Hawaiian Style Pale Ale™ Aloha from Hawaii! As the name suggests, this bold, hoppy West Coast pale ale is brewed Hawaiian style—with pineapple. We stopped at nothing to create this perfectly "imbalanced" and supremely delicious pale ale. The Hawaiian Style Pale Ale is naturally carbonated, unfiltered and dry-hopped to provide a delicate carbonation and complex flavour and bouquet. Hints of caramel, honey and biscuit give way to notes of fresh citrus, zest and pine and a refreshingly tropical finish. Serving Suggestion The Hawaiian Style Pale Ale should be served cool (5-10°C) from a tulip style glass. Food Pairings Hawaiian Style Pale Ale’s citrusy, fresh character makes it a versatile beer for food pairings. Enjoy a glass with spicy Indian and South-East Asian dishes. Pair with hearty pub fare and allow its zesty hoppiness to refresh your palate. Indulge in rich, creamy cheeses, some decadent chocolate or a thick slice of cheesecake to bring out the beer’s caramel and tropical sweetness. On its own it is dry, refreshing and perfectly quenching. Ingredients •Malts: Pale Malt, Caramel 10, Caramel 45, Light Munich, Caramel Malt-Pils •Hops: Cascade, Centennial, Northern Brewer •Yeast: California Ale •Additional: pineapple juice •Water: pure water

Pours a rich gold with clean white head, fizzy and slightly creamy. This beer has a lot going on. Nose is tropical fruit, citrus, and most notably and unsurprisingly, pineapple. Oddly, though, pineapple is not a predominant taste. Fairly high carbonation, the first sip is sweet citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, and a subtle hint of pineapple. Finish is very dry with sweet citrus, rind, tropical fruit and a nice piney bitterness. The hop profile is really, really nice, but it lacked a bit of malt character/backbone, for my liking. Great beer for hopheads, and extremely sessionable, but for me it was just shy of exceptional. Great summer beer, and it comes in a really neat bottle, sort of reminiscent of old-school soda pop.

Pours deep orange with a thin white cap. Ok, let’s face it: this isn’t my first swing at this brew. I’ve probably had it more often than Rob Ford fumbles a media scrum. Pours is brisk, hoppy & a little like a juicy soda pop. I like drifting into one or three of these at the end of a session, but it does serve pretty well for my 3 part investigation/study (aka excuse to drink more than I should on a Tuesday night). Pretty good in this summer heat but maybe a little too sugary. Bonus mark for having a tiki on the label.

355ml bottle. Cloudy orange with a frothy white head with some sediments. Flavors are juicy pineapple, pine resin, bread, lemon, alcohol and toasted malts. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, oily texture.

Pours a slightly hazy orange gold with one finger of white head diminishing gradually to a medium-dense cap and light lacing. Nose is bright citrus hoppy, with some caramel malt and just a hint of pineapple. Taste is decently balanced grapefruit hops and malt, with only a faint aftertaste of pineapple and tropical fruit. Mouth feel tends to the light side of medium, with good carbonation and a lingering pleasantly bitter finish. Not a lot of pineapple presence here, but I’m on the fence as to whether that’s necessarily a bad thing - added flavours can be a double-edged sword. Strictly as an APA/IPA, this is pleasant and quite drinkable, so I think I have to leave the pineapple out of the equation.

Cloudy yellow pour. Big pillowy white head that sticks around. Aroma is hoppy, pineapple, lime, lemon, grapefruit. A sweet sweet watery body up front with a strong hop finish. Thin body with high carbonation.

Super ripe orange citrus aroma with some lime. Also pineapple in there after the initial citrus hop notes fade. Appearance is a great orange amber with a white head, good lacing. Taste is a nice bitter. Pineapple is not dominant but does last throughout. Long finish. Kind of dry, great feel. Gets better the more you drink.

Nice big citrusy hop flavor. Bigger body. Light, crisp carbonation. Lightly syrupy. Clear amber color. Little off-white head. Dots and short ropes of lace. Moderate sweet taste, lighter bitter for an IPA.

Bottle at the Hawaii Bar on Dovercourt Rd. Toronto. Poured straw yellow with small white head. Citrus and hoppy aroma with pineapple accent. Medium carbonation, fairly light beer. Taste sour rather than the bitter that one would expect of a beer of this kind. This was an unpleasant beer.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a light slightly hazy amber with a small white head. Nose is pine, grass and citrus with definite pineapple notes. Sweet malt backbone leads to a nice bitter blend of pine and citrus. Far from being distracting, the pineapple blends seamlessly with the usual Pale Ale character to make a really interesting beer. Body is a bit light but the slick mouth and good carbonation leading to a dry bitter finish are excellent. Really enjoyable.
