Introducing the Hawaiian Style Pale Ale™ Aloha from Hawaii! As the name suggests, this bold, hoppy West Coast pale ale is brewed Hawaiian style—with pineapple. We stopped at nothing to create this perfectly "imbalanced" and supremely delicious pale ale. The Hawaiian Style Pale Ale is naturally carbonated, unfiltered and dry-hopped to provide a delicate carbonation and complex flavour and bouquet. Hints of caramel, honey and biscuit give way to notes of fresh citrus, zest and pine and a refreshingly tropical finish. Serving Suggestion The Hawaiian Style Pale Ale should be served cool (5-10°C) from a tulip style glass. Food Pairings Hawaiian Style Pale Ale’s citrusy, fresh character makes it a versatile beer for food pairings. Enjoy a glass with spicy Indian and South-East Asian dishes. Pair with hearty pub fare and allow its zesty hoppiness to refresh your palate. Indulge in rich, creamy cheeses, some decadent chocolate or a thick slice of cheesecake to bring out the beer’s caramel and tropical sweetness. On its own it is dry, refreshing and perfectly quenching. Ingredients •Malts: Pale Malt, Caramel 10, Caramel 45, Light Munich, Caramel Malt-Pils •Hops: Cascade, Centennial, Northern Brewer •Yeast: California Ale •Additional: pineapple juice •Water: pure water

On tap at Johnny Farina, Ottawa, ON Aroma: A mix of citrus, cheese, hints of banana and vanilla. A very complex mix of aromas that did not hint at Pinapple for me. Appearance: A nice clear copper coloured. Average fizz and a nice white head that lasts. Taste: Bitter... real bitter like a nice ESB with hints of sweet, especially in the after taste. Palate: As complex as it’s aroma... feels liek afull body, with a slick texture, average carbonation, a long bitter finish ending on sweet. You can taste the sweet fruity foundation hidden behind the ESB. Did not feel like a Pale Ale to me at all. Overall; Love it, it was much better than anticipated. Looking forward to try again. Hat’s off guys... you can be proud of your elixir!

Quite an enjoyable lil affair to down. A mellow, hazy copper with a frothy head that left a lace legacy behind. Light pine, citrus and caramel comprised the enjoyable aromatics. Sweeter than expected, a white grapefruit flavour was prominent here, a low bitterness trailing. The mouthfeel was softer than expected but a bittersweet aftertaste made this a solid serious session sip.

Spearhead Hawaiian Bright yellow. Medium White head. Aroma: nice mango hops, grass, lemon, a little pepper. Flavour: bitter, lemon rind, pepper, caramel, I think I detect some alcohol. Very pleasant! A great sign of things to come.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Slightly hazy, orange-amber with a 3-finger off-white head that leaves random blotches of lacing. Aroma of citrus, caramel, pineapple and a touch of floral hops. Taste of citrus, pineapple, caramel, tropical fruit, pine resin and a touch of floral hops. Medium body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange with a thin white lacy head. Smells of tropical fruit, juicy melon, honey, and caramel. Tastes more citrus with pineapple and a sharp peppery finish with a lingering sweetness. A bit our sourness in the finish is a bit off. I want to drink it. Delicious

Glass, 4-ounce, draught, during the Mondial de la bière, savoured on June 13 2014; eye: caramel with an orangey hue, lightly hazy, tiny ring of tan head, no lacing; nose: sour, infected; mouth: sour, infected; overall: why serve infected beer?

(1176-070814)

On tap at the Ottawa Beerfest. Hawaiian Style Pale Ale served in my 5$ Spearhead tasting snifter. Their flagship beer pours an opaque copper-orange. The nose is a burst of  piney orange citrus hops. Not sure what they mean by Hawaiian but this is quite good. It has a crisp mouthfeel of palate cleansing bitterness, It’s  a clean bitter hoppy pale ale with a solid malt backbone.

Pours avhazy golden red colour with a small long lasting white head. Nose of citrus hop. Mainly grapefruit. Not overly hoppy finish it has the nose of a ipa but no lingering hop. Sweet medium mouthfeel. Very good!

Pours a rich gold with clean white head, fizzy and slightly creamy. This beer has a lot going on. Nose is tropical fruit, citrus, and most notably and unsurprisingly, pineapple. Oddly, though, pineapple is not a predominant taste. Fairly high carbonation, the first sip is sweet citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, and a subtle hint of pineapple. Finish is very dry with sweet citrus, rind, tropical fruit and a nice piney bitterness. The hop profile is really, really nice, but it lacked a bit of malt character/backbone, for my liking. Great beer for hopheads, and extremely sessionable, but for me it was just shy of exceptional. Great summer beer, and it comes in a really neat bottle, sort of reminiscent of old-school soda pop.
