3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From bottle, at Zythos Beer Festival. Rather unfair to sample this immediately after Pliny The Elder, but life has to go on. Attractive deep bronze colour. Light bready malt aroma with subtle, but insistent spicy hops. Sharp, chewy fruit on the palate with the hop backdrop hanging in there throughout and a quite pronounced bitterness. Firm, dry and light mouthfeel - a bit thin if anything, which makes the bitter finish seem a touch astringent. Perfectly acceptable but not particularly forceful.

A Mes rate:
Bottle from ZBF. Smells like it is going to be quite tasty. Sadly it is a bit of a watery let down. Red brown colour. Nice yeasty and sweet fruity nose. Quite citric for something of this colour. Thin moutfeel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, ZBF 2005. Bronze, thin white head and moderate condition. Quite pleasant but muted caramel and smoky roastiness in the nose, delicate roast barley and sweet smokiness in the mouth and a lingering sweet toffee note in the finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A hazy brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with OK caramel notes, while the flavor is sweet malty with a good straw hoppy presence mixing in with the nuts.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle 25 cl) Brownish beer, with a small off-white head. Lots of roasted malt in here with flavours of brown sugar and some nuttiness. Short, dry finish. Pleasant ale. And actually it’s called "Special" not "Speciaal". 050398
