[Cask at GBBF 2004] A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is roasted with notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and coffee.

Cask gravity at Nottingham BF 2007. Black, tan head. Good condition. Good dark malts, intense roasted malts. Choc aroma, bit like a porter really, full and deep in mouth. Excellent burnt malt finish. Very good choc and malts.

Cask Conditioned at The Fat Cat, Norwich. Black beer with tan head. Hard to place this, not quite a stout, not a porter, closer to a strong mild perhaps. Sweet, fruity beer, easy on the palate, a plummy mix with malt background, would improve by being drier.

From other comments, it seems that this might be another beer with something of an identity crisis. Funnily enough, Silk Tork and I felt this was one of the more authentic stouts at the festival. Dark and opaque in colour with a good nutty/roasted aroma that carries through onto the palate. Some dry bite at the finish. Very nice. Cask, Pigs Ear Beer Fest, East London, December 2003.
