Commercial Description:
SPEIGHT’S® Gold Medal Ale is a full strength bitter ale with a hint of “grassy” undertones that add to its complexity. The use of SPEIGHT’S® malts and hops produces the full flavour that has been synonymous with the Pride of the South since 1876.

It’s dark golden with a huge, white and creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt, fruit and caramel. The flavour has a light sweetness, a full-bodied malt, caramel and light fruit. It’s OK, but also a bit monotonous.

Bottle, bought @ Skjold Burne, Aarhus.<br /> Pours golden caramel with a big, creamy, white head. Weak aroma, some hay and caramel sweetness. High carbonation, quite watery. Flavour is lightly metallic, some weak malts and weak hoppiness. Not impressive, but still far better than many other pale lagers.

Very little head. Low carbonation. A little bit of fruit in the aroma and a hint of old socks that I have previously found in English Ales. Not much by way of hop character, but nice and easy to drink.
