Jul 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 31, 2008On Tap, Hanmer Springs. Clear, pale golden beer with an average head, and with a weak aroma. Very thin beer that was a watery feel in the mouth. Little malt tastes at all, finishes with a weak citrus hop note. Reminds me of Amstel Light, not a good beer at all.

Jul 7, 2008 Bright golden colour with thick creamy white head, bland flavour of malt. Short sharp metalic mouth feel.
A marketers dream!!!!

Jul 1, 2008 Updated: Oct 17, 2009This beer doesn’t taste of anything, it doesn’t leave a desire to have another and it does nothing for Speights reputation among those who don’t know any better as a craft brewer.
This is a political beer; and I shall spell it out. Steinlager Pure was invented to take market share from Heineken, Monteiths NZ lager was bought back to take market share from Steinlager Pure (which actually did well in sales). This is the antidote to Monteiths NZ lager.
Sad really. Still doesn’t taste of anything and even the muppets I sell it to can tell.

Jun 26, 2008 Draught, crystal clear gold in the glass, with a foamy white head. A sweet cereal malt aroma with a touch of floralness. A clean and crisp dryness on the palate with a subtle earthy malt flavour. Becomes more metallic and cloying in the finish. But not a bad lager from a mass market brewery.
