COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by traditional refectory ales brewed by monks for the monks’ table, Spencer is a full-bodied, golden-hued Trappist ale with fruit accents, a dry finish and light hop bitterness. St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts, is home to a community of Trappist monks and the first American Trappist brewery. Following the Benedictine tradition of ora et labor (prayer and work), the monks pursue a simple life of contemplative prayer, a manual labor and hospitality. The brewery helps support the monks and their charitable outreach.

W zapachu typowo belgijsko. Mocno przyprawowo oraz drożdżowo, czuć banana i inne owoce, pszenica, zero alkoholu w zapachu. W ustach pełne ale nie zamulające. Nie czuć alkoholu. Wysoki wysycenie. W smaku ponownie przyprawowo, drożdźowo, chlebowo. Gdzieś tam majaczy goryczka, ale w sumie to brak.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 Bottle 33cl. Golden colour with a firm white head. Lots of carbonation when opening bottle, little in the glass. Sweet aroma with malts, honey, yeast and sugar hints. The taste is mildly sweet with a a lovely bitter undertone that grows in the aftertaste. Nice!

Sampled from a bottle purchased at Utobeer in Borough Market (near London Bridge). Pous a haxy orange/gold colour with a big white head. Very nice aromas of malt and caramel. The taste is very satisfying with flavours of ripe banana, caramel, apricots and spices. Pleasantly moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. A very good and well-made beer, Highly recommended.

Gusher. Big offwhite head. Hazy orangey body. Fruity mealy over-ripe banana aroma with papery notes. Fruity mealy taste, again with over-ripe banana. Mealy, oily mouthfeel. Fullish body. Dirty earthy taste with fruit notes. This is gross. Not sure what’s happened, but no way am I drinking this. (0.33l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)
