3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home, via the rotbox. Thanks to Lukaduke for sending. Pours a pretty clear golden orange appearance with an off white head. Aroma has apple, banana, nuts, nutmeg, and a little bit of pepper. Medium high carbonation. There’s some toasted grain in the flavor along with some white fruits (pear, banana, apple), white pepper, and a bit of flowers. Medium high bitterness. Fairly low sweetness. Little hint of the booze. Pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beyond a gusher, it sprayed me in the face! Aroma is fairly complex, dark fruits, esters, yeasty, interesting but not overly appealing. Flavor is on the bland side, it might be better with age. Some dark fruit and a little bit of red fruit.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Our local trappiste. I was put off by the price, but with a free glass thrown in, why not? This is substantially different from the darker, heavier and stronger trappistes I’m familiar with, but it’s no lager. The clove flavor really comes through and that is not objectionable, It’s a decent ale with an unusual flavor and it looks great in the provided glass. Probably a one-and-done, though since Duvel, for example, is cheaper and more to my taste.

Aroma: grain and caramel malts. Appearance: hazy gold, massive, creamy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: light bitters coming up, flowers, grain and bread again. Overall: not a massive fan of this one, nothing too extraordinary. Pint at Big Brew, Morristown.
