UPDATED: DEC 8, 2010 (Can 0,5l) Light hops, caramel, weak aroma. Brown-red color. Minimal white head. Medium sweet, light sour, caramely taste. Light fizzy. Light bodied to 5.3 ABV. Light astringent finish. (In 2009 seemed to be better than in 2010. But maybe, I get used to better beers:) )

gyllenbock (4561) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 27, 2012
Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget in October 2012. Clear dark amber with a sligtly tan head. Rather sweet with notes of toffee, roasted malt and bread. The finish was dry. Drinkable but boring. No spices in this one.

Amber coloured beer with a big head. Sweet malty aroma. Dry, slightly bitter, rather flat taste. Bitter aftertaste.

I'm not fond of christmasbrews, and this was no exception. It doesn't taste very much, and gave an overall boring impression. I'm not saying that it should be avoided at all cost, but I wouldn't be sorry if the store was all out of it when I came to make my purchase.

50 cl can, ’bbe’ July 08. Dark amber red, clear. Quickly collapsing head. Faint aroma of malt with a bit of chocolate. A rather slim malty taste with some hops and an aftertaste which is a combination of hop bitterness and fruit candy sweetness.

0.5L can. Pours out brown-redish. Medium head, colapse pretty soon to a small one, sticks ok to the glass. Smell is earthy sour-sweet, caramel, lots of fruits. Taste is red fruits, earthy, spices. Not bad, expected worse. Taste is sweet. Had worse beers for sure.

This review is of two 500ml cans bought for me from IKEA in the UK, both BBD of 18 May 09, drank during a bad lager evening on 14 Mar 09. Poured into my ’La Chouffe’ tulip glass (four times). Large off-white head sat on top of a dark amber, clear body. It looked fine and the glass showed it off to its full potential. An aroma of tea with sugar was what I thought of as my nose approached the beer. Then some molasses and treacle came through. The taste was strange, the tea smell gave way to a mild coffee flavour and some toffee sweetness, I didn’t like it much. The body was weak, a bitter finish in the mouth didn’t help its cause and I was pleased they had been a free gift and I hadn’t paid for them. Promised so much at first, but sadly lacking once tasted and when compared to other dark lagers.

djoeye (1380) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JAN 23, 2014
Brown clear body, red tunes, beige to light brown tight head, some laceworks. Scents; malt, apple, grass, nuts, faint marzipan - no xmas spices though. Taste; malt, grass, raisin, chocolate or cocoa notes. Ok carbonation and feel to palate. Mild warming end with chocolate malts, dark bread. Overall tasty, but some yuletide spices would defend the "julbrygd" title in a better way. Got a 1/2L can @Systembolaget in Boden City Sweden, brought to Norway and enjoyed@home with druzhyna Annya 2014JAN23.
