Poured from bottle, dark red brown with beige head. Aroma with notes of caramel, dark bread herbs and some dried fruit. Taste is mild with notes of dark bread, dried fruit and a little spice. Not to sweet and just enough bitterness. Nice after taste. Good beer to the Christmas dinner!

500ml bottle via djoeye, shared with Finn. Huge, creamy, tan-coloured head leaving crocheted lacing to the glass. Black body, red-tinged. Earthy malts on the nose, hints of caramel. Flavours of herbs, bread and dark fruits. Slightly roasted endnotes. Fine bodied. Yuletide feel, alright (Tromsø 18.12.2014).

50cl bottle from Systembolaget, Strömstad. Pours very dark brown with a moderate sized beige head. Dark and malty aroma with some slightly roasty notes, dark, dried fruits, caramel and hints of chocolate, herbs and spices. Medium sweet, but fairly balanced and pleasant malty flavours and a certain bitterness. Nothing special, but quite decent.

djoeye (1848) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 26, 2014
Black brown body with beige head. Quite rich lacing. Aroma; dark sweet malts, grassy hops, plums, plum peel, sweet spices and dough. Taste; dark sweet malts, hops, plum peel, nutshells, cocoa toffee fudges, moves towards chocolate in finish with dark dark prunes under. Feels normal, average carbonation. Overall; despite lack of xmas tradition spices, this was a clean and good dark one. I hope Spendrups never changes the recipe. [50cl brown bottle, 5.6%abv, BB250915, B@Systembolaget Storheden Luleå]

Flaska. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
