It’s red-brown with a huge creamy head, the foam is very lively and the mouth feel is very fizzy. The aroma has mild notes of roasted malt, caramel and a touch of nuts. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, licorice and nuts and light fruit. The finish is slightly bitter and harsh.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, purchased at the brewery hotel. - Dark brown, clear (though the label says "naturtrüb"). Starts slighty sour and fruity. Caramel and roasted malts, notes of plum. Texture is quite thin, though, and there are hardly any hops. After I finished the bottle, some yeast was left in it (this is probably why the label talks of "Flaschengärung"). A drinkable Dunkles but definitely no real Zoigl. BBD is 22.10.13 - far too long for a real Zoigl.
