Bottle from half time best before 6/28/12. Pours clean tan amber with non existent head. Nose is sweet with underlying smoke. In the mouth light smoke and malt gently arouse the palate with faint grass. Light carbonation hits the spot. I dig it.

kupferfarben, klar mit schönem weißem Schaum. In der Nase kündigt sich eine starke Rauchnote an, die Lust auf den ersten Schluck macht. Und ab dem ersten Schluck weiß das Bier dann auch zu überzeugen: frisch, angenehm malzig und ordentlich (aber nicht zu wuchtig) rauchig. Und vor allem sehr harmonisch. Macht Lust auf mehr. Empfehlung!

Bottle at home, dark amber beer, small head. Aroma is smoked ham, smoke. Taste is smoke, ham, wood, sweet. not bad, its like walking into an old fashion butchershop.

Tap@gallows. Coppery amber clear. Nice smokey, wood smoke bonfire, öpale malty, slight honey nose. Med light bldied, some honey, sorta old honey, sweetness, light grassy herby hops. Smoky. Nice lighter bambergian. Could drink a ton of it.

On tap at Akkurat. Amber/light brownish with a large head. On the sweet side with smoke, ham, some wood and malt. The body was medium and the carbonation lively.

Tap at the brewpub, from wooden barrel. Aroma of a warm cosy bonfire, maybe with little bit of BBQ around, but not too much. Flavour is rather the dying fire, with a bit of ash, colder, spicier, sharp. Medium body with full taste. Lively carbonation in perfect harmony to support and not disturb. Great smoked.

- bernsteinfarben mit leichter Schaumbildung - leichte, aber gut wahrnehmbare Raucharomen mit einer schwachen malzigen Süße - angenehme Carbonisierung - geschmacklich verschwindet die Rauchnote relativ schnell im Antrunk - etwas zu schlanker Körper mit einem Hang zur Wässrigkeit - erst im Abgang kommt dann noch eine schöne Hopfenbitternis hinzu - gutes Rauchbier für Einsteiger, mehr aber nicht Fazit: Rauchbier für Beginner !

Clear, amber colour, fluffy medium head diminishing quite fast. Very intensive aroma with lots of smoked malts (similiar to the smoked meat). Taste is medium sweet, minimal bitter with medium duration smoky finish. High carbonation (it could be softer). Medium body. Solid rauchbier.

Halve literfles gekocht in Berlijn. Helder amber, kraag blijft niet lang. Ruikt rokerig, beetje likeurig maar niet heel sterk, de smaak is ook rokerig, moutig en een dunne lichtzure afdronk. Weinig koolzuur, weinig spannend.

The ghost of the hangover vanished in the morning. A whole day of exploration through Bamberg, and it was still not over. The next day started with the smoky scent of the rauchbier, strong but not overwhelming. I could make out the rising carbonation in behind the deep colour. Smoke everywhere, taste, smell, palate, all smokey breakfast. I expected a rude awakening, but this was the opposite.

W aromacie silna szynkowa wędzonka, ognisko, popiół, mokry karton trochę też. W smaku wędzonka już nie taka silna, zbudowana na karmelowo - tostowej podbudowie, nieco za dużo popiołowości jest w tym piwie, podbitej przez mokry karton. Nie przekonało.
