Bottle. Pours a dark amber/brown with a light tan head. Aroma is light smoke, grains, and toasted malts. Flavor is malty sweet with light caramel, smoke and a touch of honey light to medium bodied with a dry finish. Decent brew

Jul 26, 2008 Bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a clear medium amber with a minute off white head. Nose was malty and slightly smoked, flavor was much of the same.

Jul 21, 2008 Bottle at Kent BF 08. Amber clear, thin white head. Rauch aroma. Lovely Bamberg bacon. Smokey. Baken bean aroma according to Brian and Martin. Decent lager. Bit empty after some very good ales. But good enough.

Jul 14, 2008 Pours clear and darker gold with a short white head. Lovely smoke and sweet malt aroma. Taste is very lagery, but with a sublte smoked finish. I want more out of my smoked beer. This is like a Czechvar with a drop of liquid smoke.

Jul 12, 2008 On tap at Brauerei Spezial Brewpub, Bamberg. Amber with white head. Sweetish, malty beer with just the merest hint of smokiness and an indefinable hop. Thin and watery body with mild carbonation. Pretty average.

Jul 4, 2008 Bottle picked up at Uto Beer, Borough Market, Lahndan tahn 21-06-08 consumed 03-07-08 Light amber pour with haziness the head was off white but departed quite quickly. Initial taste is quite soft in the mouth smoky flavours are there but very much less so than in its stablemates, some honey and very lightly smoked bacon and the nose is a far less dominant than the scherlenka, very nice and actually very refreshing.
