On tap at Fermentoren, Copenhagen.Pours clear golden/amber with a small white head. Aroma is light roasted with a tiny smoked note. Taste is moderate roasted, caramel with that nice touch of smoke, shy and not too dominating, very good one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Bayrischer anstich, at Fermentoren. Clear amber with a big and creamy white head. Meaty smoke aroma with biscuit and bready malt. Sweetish malty flavour with mild smoke character. Low carbonation which may have hurt the flavour profile a little. 3.7
Re-rate, on tap at the brewery: Malty with both dark bread and mild, complex smoke, rich flavour with a touch of dried fruit.

Very good Rauchbier, not as smokey as Schlenkerla, but still with a lot of character!

21/11 0.5 l bottle, thanks ogivlado for sharing! It poured clear copper body with smaller head. Very nice smoked aroma, cheese at first, then ham, peat etc. A bit of caramel changes its concept, but typical Bamberg cheese, ham and peat are very well present in flavor. Not too smoked though, for where it came from. Fuller in body, inclining to "medium" category. Finish was longer and held quite an interesting herbal note. An easy rauch to drink, expected heavier stuff here, but it’s surely a very good beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark toffee colored pour. Big peaky off-white head that slowly falls. Some lacing left behind. Malty, smoky, and a hint of roast. Sweet, smoky flavor of malt and bacon. Not as strong as the last one I had, but still very delicious.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rated at the brewery/restaurant Nov 2011.
Head is mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown.
Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (caramel, toasted bread, nuts), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), with notes of apple skin, smoked meat, peach/apricot, black tea, tobacco.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
I must admit the aroma is pretty amazing, and more complex than Schlenkerla’s Märzen (although the latter’s smoke character is more enticing). Watery mouthfeel, but very well-balanced and clean.
