Had on draught at the brewpub in Bamberg. Pours deep orange almost brown with a small tan head. The nose is bbq pork rines, smoked turkey, bits of ash and burnt wood. The taste is sweet with a nice bitter balance. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, the body is light and the finish is long. I really like this one. It’s not as good as another Rauch from the same city that will go unnamed but this was close.

Tap @ brewery in Bamberg. Hazy dark orange/brown appearance with a cream colored head. Honey baked ham, somewhat spicy, caramel, mild meaty smoky aroma that’s just fantastic. Rich caramel malty, lightly nutty, toasty, pork smoky, light vanilla flavor. A real treat.

Small glass at Fermentoren, poured from a wood barrel. Golden-brown body, firm off-white head, dotted spots around the sides of the glassware. Mild smoked sausage to the nose. Mild smoked malts in flavour, semi-sweet. Malt bitter endnotes. Medium to thin bodied. Easy to drink (Copenhagen, 10.05.2012).

On tap at Fermentoren, Copenhagen.Pours clear golden/amber with a small white head. Aroma is light roasted with a tiny smoked note. Taste is moderate roasted, caramel with that nice touch of smoke, shy and not too dominating, very good one.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Bayrischer anstich, at Fermentoren. Clear amber with a big and creamy white head. Meaty smoke aroma with biscuit and bready malt. Sweetish malty flavour with mild smoke character. Low carbonation which may have hurt the flavour profile a little. 3.7

Re-rate, on tap at the brewery: Malty with both dark bread and mild, complex smoke, rich flavour with a touch of dried fruit.
