COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crisp and dangerously drinkable, this double IPA is just what the bitter drinker needs in his life. You’re not looking for anything malty. You’re not looking for the aromatic, floral character of hops. When you’re looking for IBUs, ask for it by name.

Excellent local offering. Drank this and a few of their others during a takeover at Hoptron. This was my favorite of their offerings. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Big dank fruity hops, almost tropical, with light spicy notes, and a light sweet malty base. Pretty dope.

Growler from A&R; Pours out opaque dark amber with a nice off white head that diminishes relatively quickly. Floral aroma with citrus notes as expected. Medium bitterness, medium body, thin and relatively lively palate. Somewhat disappointed in the ’watery’ nature of the beer but overall it’s a slightly above average double IPA.

Keg at The Pony Bar UES, NYC. Pours hazy gold with a stingy, creamy white head. Aroma holds a good bit of dried citrus, lemon, spices, pine needles. Big sweet flavor, rich and semi-ripe citrus, spices, ginger, pale malts and bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with decent piney resins, further spices, flowers, sugar, salt, lemon and orange, grapefruit. Pretty ballsy stuff through and through.

On tap at Grand Cru up in Rhinebeck. Pours a lightly hazed orange hued amber with a medium sized off white head. Sweet crystal malt on the nose, soft citrus hops behind it. Medium bodied, soft bread and a touch of hops. Dries out nicely into a bit of grapefruit and quinine. Very easy drinking.

On tap at The Pony Bar-Hells Kitchen. Pours clear burnt orange with a white head. Aromas of sweet malts, orange, peaches, caramel, and some bready. Flavors of sweet bready malts, lemon, orange, peaches, caramel, and touch of warmth in the end. Had nice body and balance. Just wish it had a bit more bitterness. Decent IIPA.

tap at Pony bar HK - what a beautiful, beautiful beer. The nose is peaches and citrus (lemon and orange peel) making possibly the best use yet of citra hops. The body is sweet caramel with a perfect balance of tangy, bitter hops in the finish. There seems to be a few ways to do a double IPA: make it undrinkably sweet to mask the alcohol, make is a booze bomb with overattenuated malt character or cover everything up with palate-wrecking bitterness. Spider Bite has crafted the perfect dIPA that finds the sweet spot for all these options. Had maybe 3 glasses of this and wish I could’ve had more but I got too drunk :-(

Draft at pony courtesy of Dan. Drank 5 glasses with Paul, max, zach, and Chris. Pours a clear amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is funky citrus, lemon and pine hop. Holy god, reminds me of Alpine Nelson. Mouthfeel is medium and very sessionable (see 4 drinks @ pony) with notes of funky citrus, lemon, pine, funky oranges and peaches. Awesome. Get this now.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2012 Nice aroma of flowers emerges when the growler is opened. The aroma is flowers, caramel, slight earth. The appearance is clear copper, white head. The flavor is flowers, pine, caramel, bready. The finish is flowers, with lingering bitterness. Medium in body. Excellent, and enjoyable.

Growler from McBreen’s. (It would be nice if they had actually screwed the top on all the way.) Clear copper with small head which might have been better if they had screwed the top on all they way and used a hose to fill the jug. Beautiful citrus pine and orange candy aroma. Medium fruity orange light sweetness (kinda cold) with a little orange bread and assertive pine and some citrus lingering drying bitterness. Medium body, fairly drinkable, which is how I like DIPAs. Another excellent beer from these guys. Hey, it’s empty! What happened?
