Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver
Dark brown color with small head. Aroma of dark bread and light aroma of coffee; roasted flax, impression of vomit. Smooth mouthfeel, quite lean; dry chocolate flavor, ordinary bitterness.
Quite meh.

Dark brown. Sweetish slightly chocolatey aroma. Sweet but thin, touch of chocolate, kind of a simple beer, but itís not bad.

650mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of dry cocoa and metallic notes. Flavour brings out cocoa notes, vanilla, and some metallic notes. Thin, but nicely flavoured. Itís okay.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquors for around $7. I'm confused - the label states: "designed to last until the last drop" followed up by "pour carefully in a single motion, leaving the last centimeter"? Anyhow, pours a medium frothy brown head atop an opaque black body. Nose of roasted nuts. Flavour is very similar to a nut brown, vanilla notes and minor cocoa nibs finish. Good. --- reviewed on RateBeer.com

650ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of light beige head that leaves very little lacing on the glass. Aroma is light chocolate with some grass and grains. Taste is a grainy malt sweetness with some grassy hop presence with very little chocolate. Body is a little on the thin side. I do not recommend this beer.

My bottle says Porter, not Sweet Stout Black, fast fading tan head.Vinous choc/brn sugar nose.Palate of dry malt/light choc, red wine.Thin and watery. A poor effort

Bottle - Dark fruit, some roasted malts and some sourness. Muddy opaque brown with no head. A really odd porter, with the odd ingrediants giving in a light roasted flavor, some sourness and oak. Very light body and no bitterness and a bit flat. Could be a bad bottle.

750 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with almost no head. Aromas of cocoa powder and heavily roasted malts. Dry. Flavors of black coffee and nuts. Somewhat acidic bitter finish.

Very dark body, very modest head thatís gone in an instant. Aroma is of barley swampwater and chocolate from your garbage can. Maybe some boot leather in there, the kind that you dropped that can of paint thinner over a few years back. Flavour is a standard bad stout fare of wateriness with some coffee notes, a bit of chocolate, and just a hint of skunkiness to remind you that itís a Spinnaker brew. This is another Spinnaker beer that seems to be oh so slightly infected and otherwise substandard in the world of craft beer. Maybe the stuff at their brewpub is better, but either way, Iím not impressed with this brewery.

Bottle. Deep black with minimal head. Aroma of strong dark chocolate and chocolate malt. Taste is woody and dry with some sourness. There is a light thin chocolate character but not well pronounced. Bit of a weird brew. Had us questioning if there was something wrong with this bottle.
