mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 4, 2007 Pours a cloudy yellow with nearly no head, and an aroma of cleaning-product citrus and slight honeysuckle. Thin wheat malting, hops kicks in near the end and the taste opens up a bit with a spicy citrusy finish. Very thin body, none of the creamy lightness I’d expect from a good hefe. This is overattenuated or under-malted. Good spiciness, but otherwise lacking. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 10, 2006 On tap at Spinnaker’s, Victoria. Cloudy lemon gold colour with lasting white head. Bubblegummy lemon aroma. Lovely in mouth. Creamy wheat, lemon and bubblegum. Finish is slightly tart, great refreshing lemony Hefe. Great and rather delicate, rather than huge wheat. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 10, 2006 On tap at the source. Slight hazy golden body with minimal head. Citrus and wheat on the nose. Some clove and banana in the flavour that turns slightly acidic on the finish. Decent but nothing special. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jun 9, 2006 (Draught) Served in what appears to be a Kolsh glass with a handle, the Spinnaker Hefe has a clouded light yellow hue with a frothy small head. The nose is a mildly artificial banana -- though the flavour is more profound with a bruised banana and citrus finish. Good. frink (467), coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada Sep 12, 2005 GCBF. Poured a cloudy pale yellow. All down hill from there. Mild hefe aromas. The palate was dead flat, the flavours weak and watery. Not good. Oakes (8062), gone rambling, Vietnam Sep 12, 2005 Light cloudy beige colour. Very fluffy head. Sweaty aroma with light banana and clove undertones. Sweetish fare, with a bit of wheaty acidity in the finish and mere hints of banana. An exercise in restraint, which a hefe need not be. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2005 Draft at the brewery
Semi-light yellow color, cloudy and murky appearance. Very nice semi-sweet lemon, juicy wheat goodness all around. Some spicy coriander and soapy yeast flavors, and a little cannibus scent as well that permiates around the mouth and nose in the finish. A very interesting and different hefeweizen. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA Jul 20, 2005 Clouded yellowy appearance. Clovey yeasty aroma. Sweet clove, well pronounced banana, minty finish. Excelent full flavored hefe that lends more from the German style than the US.
