Sweaty aroma with light banana and clove undertones. Sweetish fare, with a bit of wheaty acidity in the finish and mere hints of banana. An exercise in restraint, which a hefe need not be. harrisoni (6789), Ashford, Kent, England

Bubblegummy lemon aroma. Lovely in mouth. Creamy wheat, lemon and bubblegum. Finish is slightly tart, great refreshing lemony Hefe. Great and rather delicate, rather than huge wheat. jcwattsrugger (5273), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jun 13, 2004 Cloudy pale yellow colour, thin white head/lace. Very wehaty aroma with very low esters, no spiciness or banana and an unappealing wet cardboard flavour. Pretty bad, especially from Spinnakers. LaMichael (4999), Colorado, USA

Semi-light yellow color, cloudy and murky appearance. Very nice semi-sweet lemon, juicy wheat goodness all around. Some spicy coriander and soapy yeast flavors, and a little cannibus scent as well that permiates around the mouth and nose in the finish. A very interesting and different hefeweizen. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 9, 2006 (Draught) Served in what appears to be a Kolsh glass with a handle, the Spinnaker Hefe has a clouded light yellow hue with a frothy small head. The nose is a mildly artificial banana -- though the flavour is more profound with a bruised banana and citrus finish. Good. IrishBoy (2708), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Draught sample from brewpub. Very light hefeweizen aroma with only a hint of wheat. Some banana and clove but not much. Thought it was filtered but it’s not, and I had a larger glass for lunch to try again. Slight hazy golden with thin off-white lacing head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Has a decent German wheat profile with wheat and banana. Not very spicy and overall is a bit more watery /thin in the taste profile. Has a mild tang like watered down tea. Falls just short of a really good hefeweizen.
