BeerLimey (1873), California, USA Jul 20, 2005 Clouded yellowy appearance. Clovey yeasty aroma. Sweet clove, well pronounced banana, minty finish. Excelent full flavored hefe that lends more from the German style than the US. Andrew196 (1091), Katy, Texas, USA Jul 24, 2002 Excellent hefe! Cloudy, unfilitered foggy yellow color. Typical for the style...banana and clove...blah blah, but put together very nicely. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2005 Draft at the brewery
Semi-light yellow color, cloudy and murky appearance. Very nice semi-sweet lemon, juicy wheat goodness all around. Some spicy coriander and soapy yeast flavors, and a little cannibus scent as well that permiates around the mouth and nose in the finish. A very interesting and different hefeweizen. pantani (1895), Salinas, California, USA Jul 7, 2007 Foggy gold, white head. Fruity aroma, pineapple, banana, nutmeg. Taste is cinnamon, banana, citrus. Good hefe. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 10, 2006 On tap at Spinnaker’s, Victoria. Cloudy lemon gold colour with lasting white head. Bubblegummy lemon aroma. Lovely in mouth. Creamy wheat, lemon and bubblegum. Finish is slightly tart, great refreshing lemony Hefe. Great and rather delicate, rather than huge wheat. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draft at the brewpub; Nose of banana and light cloves; murky yellow-orange withe a medium, heavily glass-lacing, yellowish head; flavor is light cloves and nutmeg with banana; finish ligth hop bitterness. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 24, 2008 draft at alibi room in vancouver. naturally i’d pick the lowest rated thing... though it doesn’t look like CA beers get much love anyways. pours a hefty brown orange, super opaque, looks like plastic. minimal dirty head. smelled of bananas and cloves, no surprise there, pretty good. taste is very light, pretty watery. kinda wish i’d seen the sampler at the bottom before ordering 20oz of this. nevertheless, it’s been a while since my last drink and this is pretty refreshing, hard to complain. call me a sucker for a hefeweizen CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jun 9, 2006 (Draught) Served in what appears to be a Kolsh glass with a handle, the Spinnaker Hefe has a clouded light yellow hue with a frothy small head. The nose is a mildly artificial banana -- though the flavour is more profound with a bruised banana and citrus finish. Good.
