robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jul 18, 2007 650ml bomber from mgermani! thanks! Clear golden color with a thin, amber tint. Big nose of citrus, and grapefruit, wow this smell fresh. Flavour is quite hoppy, good bitterness, and a nice maltiness also. Very refreshing beer, i really enjoyed it! mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 5, 2007 Pours a clear dull gold with a healthy looking white head with minimal lace. light but sharp citrus-hops aroma, some sweetness from the malt. Decent pale malt with plenty of hop kick - orange pith, grapefruit, dry aftertaste with a touch of warmth. Thin but lingering mouthfeel and good carb. This is truly one of Spinnaker’s best. Much better than their garden-variety IPA. Nicely done! rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Sep 23, 2007 (Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Bottle. Somewhat hazy pale golden color, white head. Hoppy, grassy aroma, some citric notes.Hoppy metallic flavor, grassy and with some citrus. Nice mouthfeel and with a pleasant bitter finish. I really enjoyed it... jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2007 on tap-pours a retaining creamy white head and yellow color. Aroma is citrus (cascade+?) hops. Taste is sweet citrus/grapefruit (cascade+?) hops, hint of malt, some hops bite at finish. Nice. OK/mild carbonation. Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Feb 27, 2008 Bomber from Brewery Creek:
Poured a medium gold with a thin bubbly head.
Aroma was herbal hop, apricot and some honey.
Clean start, hop forward flavour, nice malt balance. Very drinkable. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 30, 2007 (Draught) Sampled at Spinnakers Brewpub. Again - served far too cold at 4 degrees Celsius. Initially not much on the nose as per the temperature but the flavour hits like bricks. A tad thin in texture with too much tonic fizziness but the tart hops lead into a hoppy journey of sorts. Very little malt to balance but this is good. Citrus, oranges and fresh herbal hops throughout. It looks like Matt Phillips finally has an Island contender. Earlier Rating: 3/18/2005 Total Score: 3.3 (Draught) Celebrating 20 years of brewing - Congrats! This is a feat in Canada. Nicely laced, thin, white head and a mildly carbonated golden body with tiny bubbles. Nose is a lovely malt-citrus mix. I smell more honey in this beer than the Honey Pale Ale? Nice english malt mingled with cascade hops. Very good! Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 20, 2007 Bright golden with copper tint. Thin head. Woody hop nose with hints of grapefruit. Passion fruit, pink grapefruit and dalandan taste with light woodiness and subtle bready malts. Moderate bitterness ends up slightly overstated due to the low finishing gravity (OG 1050 and 6% abv). A light hint of resin amidst the bitter citrus finish. Refreshing. Earlier Rating: 9/11/2005 Total Score: 3.7 Golden-amber colour. Fresh grainy aroma. The flavour is mainly of fresh pale malt, with a little crystal thrown in for fun. There is some late, leafy hop as well. The fresh grain aroma rates excellent but the flavour didn’t follow through with enough conviction. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 8, 2007 Strong PNW hops in the nose showcasing orange and grapefruit citrus character and some pine-like spiciness. Toasted malt character is also apparent. Slightly hazy blond body is topped by a lasting line of white head that coats the glass in rings as you drink. Hops are featured up front in the flavour also with a pleasant toasty malt backbone. Bitterness is pronounced but never over-the-top. Somewhat watery texture to the medium body with low to fair carbonation. Sampled on cask at Dix (Caskival 2007).
