2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 KingPinHead (390) - Des Moines, Washington, USA - MAR 11, 2005
Color a light bronze, moderate head that dissipates rapidly...Aroma is light, dominated by honey-sweet malts with just a hint of hop essence...Flavor is a blend of sweet malts and the somewhat thin but bitter hop profile is somewhat out of harmony---that is, there is contrast here, but a lock of roundness...Carbonation is moderate and adds some welcome sparkle and bite to the mix. Body is moderately light---a bit light for this style. Overall, the elements here just don’t seem to mesh together successfully---a bit out-of-synch...

Hazy light gold colour. very slight head . pungent yeasty nose. sweet yeasty taste almost like it was still fermenting. will probably have to try again cause this was just a very bad beer.

A great IPA, one of the best I have had. Pale amber colour with a white head. Aroma is mostly of malt, and a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is quite nice and creamy. Has a sweet malt taste and a bitter finish. I love the ABV cranked up, oh ha!

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2004 (Draft) I drove a long ways to sample Canada’s first brewpub and now brewery. I must say I was disapointed at their beer. Poured with a thin head not much hops in the aroma. Malty with some bitterness but could do with a bit more kick even for an english style IPA, and alot more would make it even better.

Drinkable IPA, hoppy and bitter and a transition to American style IPA. Went down very wel with food. Spice and juicy peach in yeast

Pours a deep amber colour with a thin head (most likely my bad pour). The aromas are of floral hops with a mild citrus bite and some malts. The hops seemed more Brittish than west coast, that being said it was still a good I.P.A. with a nice malt balance and well hidden alcohol. Good stuff.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 8, 2004
Peachiness and honey sweetness try to meld with the earthy, bitter hops...Floral protrusions carry citrus allusions through the yeasty micro-particles...A decent example although indifference was slowly gaining on me halfway through the glass...

Sweet, malty, fruity (peach/apricot), yeasty aroma - almost like a Belgian Tripel. Hazt golden straw colour with decent white head that lasts nicely and plenty of yeast in suspension. Assertive bitterness. Strong hop flavour. Sweet and yeasty. Lightly spicy, kind of floral. Collapsing body a la Fantome or Hitachino though not as pronounced. Bottle (enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere).

Big frothy and rocky white head. Tons os sediments float around the glass. Strange aroma for an IPA. Very fruity (peaches, orange, pears) and almost belgian yeastiness where the wild hay come out, very flowery, lightly spicy. In mouth, range comes strong in the flavor development, but hops are not too flavorful, you wouldn’t think its and IPA. A sweet floral kiss comes back toward the end to finish with grace, if not with a wall of bitterness. Texture is perhaps a bit too bubbly, but still mostly smooth. Thanks frink!

Nice crisp hoppy flavour and aroma make this is a good IPA and one of Spinnakers best beers.
