A traditional amber, complex, sweet, malty ale, with a touch of peat in the finish, which is characteristically lightly hopped. Brewed from a blend of English malts and a single pitching of Kent Goldings, this beer is fermented at a lower temperature to suppress formation of esters, reinforcing the beer’s complex malt flavour profile.

Brewed in honour of the Jameson clan of tea, coffee & spice merchants, who settled in Victoria in 1889, this beer is a classic Scottish Ale, demonstrating a complex malty body, lightly hopped with a touch of peat on the finish.

(From a cask at the brewpub) Extremely thick head, tasted off.... biscuits mixed with snot. I’m guessing it was the bottom of the cask? Wasn’t in servable condition.

Hint of whiskey and smoke; grainy with a brown sugar sweetness. Medium-bodied, golden-brown with thin white head. Rich and hearty mouthfeel. The bottle I had was good, but I remember it tasting much better on tap (like most beers).

Toffee, caramel, roast, and a little earthy peat on the nose. Brownish amber, thin head. The flavor starts toasty and with notes of toffee and caramel, moving through a dryness and a little earthy peat smoke in the finish. Light, dry finish, easy to drink.

Handpump at the brewpub
Dark amber to brown color. Mild aroma of chocolatey malts. The flavor has caramel and some chocolate trace; the low carbonation helps the mouthfeel, which is semi-dry; the bitterness is quite low. Good.

On tap at the Victoria brewpub. I found this one incredibly non-descript. Generally sweet, dark, but no real malt backbone or much to it. Kind of boring.

Cask condioned on tap at Alibi Room. Hazy milk chocolate amber with a thin off white head. Distinct gingerbread malts, whiskey, biscuits on the nose. Thinner mouthfeel but the malts add great drinkability and smoothness.wife disliked it so the scotch overtones are surely present.overall distinct.
