Sammy (3612), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 23, 2008 The third cask on, all winners. Dark with a touch of smoke. Rich and vineous. Light to the tongue as casks can be. Bang on for a cask scotch. jcwattsrugger (4908), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2007 on hand pump-pours a retaining off white head with bubbles and red/amber color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel/toffee, nutty. Taste is medium malt-caramel/toffee, nutty, faint hops. Light side of medium body. Minimum carbonation. presario (2768), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Sep 11, 2007 Glass on tap at the brewpub. Red with a lasting head. Light body. Light sweetness. Light brown sugar and peat flavour. mgermani (810), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 4, 2007 Pours a dark, dark amber with a beautiful off-white head with great lacing. Odd fruity aroma - slightly tart with something a bit off. Flavour took me completely off-guard - this is hardly a Scottish ale at all. It tastes like a brown ale with a bit more dark crystal and just the hint of caramel. Aftertaste is warm but confused - what kind of beer is this? Creamy body but slightly low in carbonation. I found the flavours and style profile for this beer utterly confusing. It tastes like somebody’s rag-tag homebrew except very well executed (the head and lacing are excellent). I must try another batch of this to make sure that mine wasn’t off. BillKismet (1764), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 3, 2007 Scotch-colored with big bubbles. Roast crystal malt aroma, rather flat, and with well-masked alcohol content. Ok, but lacks adequate carbonation. Nate (2466), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 26, 2007 Hand pump sample from brewpub. Mild tangy balsamic notes, neutral fruity hops and apple skins. Very little aroma overall. Copper brown clear with little head. Medium body with light smooth carbonation. Starts with light malty apples, a thin peaty veil and light touch of alcohol. Nutty dry hop finish with smooth nutty after. A nice ale.
