Commercial Description:
A traditional amber, complex, sweet, malty ale, with a touch of peat in the finish, which is characteristically lightly hopped. Brewed from a blend of English malts and a single pitching of Kent Goldings, this beer is fermented at a lower temperature to suppress formation of esters, reinforcing the beer’s complex malt flavour profile.

(Draught) I’m definitely liking the darker Spinnaker beers more than the lighter ones. Pours a frothy, almond head and a deep red-mahogany body. Nose of peat and malt. Very malty and refreshing with a red wine tinge at the finish. Very enjoyable!

On the pour: a nice dark amber with a small tan head, kind of glows orange on the side of the glass.Sweet malty/earthy nose On the Taste: real good, great blend of malts sweet, dirty, coffee, and a touch of hops,to round out the finish. My only complaint...a tad and just a tad too much dark malt, giving it an occasional sharp or burnt taste.Really a bit mild for a true Scottish ale. Great on the tongue, very little carbonation but this beer is slick and creamy.

Pours a cloudy deep brown with a thin long lasting head. Nice rich caramel aromas and some spicy yeastiness. The flavours were very subdued (bland). Such a dissappointment as the look and smell lead me to believe I was going to try somthing great. Ah well.

Light brown with a faint ruby tint. Light brown head. Malty and spicy aroma. CAramel and faint molasses with some stone fruits. Long sweet fruit and malt finish.

Thin for a scottish, hops are there but don’t stand out, not as malty as most scottish ales. A fair bit of black malt for a stottish which seems a little odd.

Very weak for a Scottish, slight alcoholic taste, but something was missing.

Slighty hazy, tawney brown colour. Aroma draws a lot of toasty, nutty maltiness. Creamy body hold sugary notes and a bit of toffee. The finish is quite sweet, balanced only by cask acidity.
