Dec 3, 2000 Updated: Oct 31, 2005Slighty hazy, tawney brown colour. Aroma draws a lot of toasty, nutty maltiness. Creamy body hold sugary notes and a bit of toffee. The finish is quite sweet, balanced only by cask acidity.

Nov 10, 2006 Cask handpull at Spinnaker’s, Victoria. Deep chestnut colour with ruby hints and a lasting thick beige head. Malty aroma, choccy again, maybe a bit more of a twang then the ESB, but still lacks depth and any hop bite. Good malts but just a bit nothingy in mouth. Slight tang on finish.

Oct 17, 2007 on hand pump-pours a retaining off white head with bubbles and red/amber color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel/toffee, nutty. Taste is medium malt-caramel/toffee, nutty, faint hops. Light side of medium body. Minimum carbonation.

Jun 13, 2004 Light brown with a faint ruby tint. Light brown head. Malty and spicy aroma. CAramel and faint molasses with some stone fruits. Long sweet fruit and malt finish.

Dark red and orange color. Very nice body for a cask ale: big, doughy and full of a thick, textural oak flavor. Sweet maple, woody and brandy flavors, with some more doughly and pancake-like flavors as well. Very good stuff here. The best cask ale in Victoria.

Feb 23, 2008 The third cask on, all winners. Dark with a touch of smoke. Rich and vineous. Light to the tongue as casks can be. Bang on for a cask scotch.

Mar 18, 2005 (Draught) I’m definitely liking the darker Spinnaker beers more than the lighter ones. Pours a frothy, almond head and a deep red-mahogany body. Nose of peat and malt. Very malty and refreshing with a red wine tinge at the finish. Very enjoyable!

Sep 11, 2007 Glass on tap at the brewpub. Red with a lasting head. Light body. Light sweetness. Light brown sugar and peat flavour.
