On tap at Spinnakers, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a small beige head - doesn’t look like a CDA. Aroma brings out light diacetyl, along with toasted malt and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, piney hops and some diacetyl. Looks bad, smells pretty off and tastes similar. Not a total disaster, but certainly needs some work.

Bottle from bottle store in Vancouver bc. This has what I can detect as maybe some rye and coriander and a weird medicinal smell. I wouldn't get this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amazing dark pour with a big white head. The bitterness in the aftertaste overshadows everything that may be in this beer. Not awesome.

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with light white head. Aromas of sweet roasted malt with a mint of dark fruit. Flavors of dry roasted malts and flat bitter hops. Not much depth.

L’arôme de malt torréfié avec un peu de houblon amer. Le goût ressemble l’arôme. Assez facile à boire pour un CDA, même à chaud. Pas mal!

Red-tinged med brown. The aroma is malty, mostly nutty, rather like a rich, strongish brown ale. Fairly big body, malty, woody, nutty palate with a touch of earthy bitterness. Not a bad beer, actually, just think of it as a nice brown ale.

Brown pour with a beige head. Flavour is roasted malt with piney hop bitterness. Loads of coffee flavour. Okay.

Bottle courtesy of Andy at Paul’s housewarming tasting 2013. Pours a dark brown body with thin, off white lacing. Aroma is full of earthy hops, light pine and espresso. Mouthfeel is medium with coffee/espresso, chocolate malt, and earthy roast dominating the palate. Additional notes of pine and a very muted bitterness.

@Pauls new condo Tasting–22oz/650ml bottle shared by puzzl-thin offwhite-dk amber/brown. A-soft pine, some med malt. T-pine/earthy hops, some med malt-dusty cocoa.
