Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color; creamy head. Very nice roasted malt and coffee aroma. Lean body, but the mouthfeel is round enough; good dark caramel flavor, with hints of roasted malts and chocolate; correct bitterness level. Better flavor than other heavily roasted beers, but also not fruity-hop oriented.
Very pleasant.

Red-tinged med brown. The aroma is malty, mostly nutty, rather like a rich, strongish brown ale. Fairly big body, malty, woody, nutty palate with a touch of earthy bitterness. Not a bad beer, actually, just think of it as a nice brown ale.

Tap @ brewpub. Amber orange appearance with an off white head. Slightly roasty, soapy, hoppy nose. Low carbonation. Toasty, mild to moderate earthy hoppy, toffee malty flavor. Disappointing.

Bottle shared at Paulís housewarming tasting. Pours a deep brown with a thin white head. Coffee on the nose, a little hops and earth. Medium-bodied, cocoa, roast. Light chocolate hints with some cocoa and roast. Finishes with a touch of bitterness. Decent enough.

Bottle, purhased and enjoyed @ Spinakers while watching NFL Sunday. Dark mahogany with lovely ruby highlights. Earthy dark toffee and leafy hop aroma. Dark toffee, hints of roast, earthy/loamy hop character, hints of fruits. Not a great deal of cascade in here. Medium bitter finish.

Definite roast and nutty notes, dark malt is the most prevalent in the aroma with a light floral earthy hop presence. Like and english black ipa. Pours dark brown, black more or less, nice off white head and lace. The flavor is roasty with light sweetness, earthy, nutty, floral and lightly bitter in the finish. Interesting take on a Black IPA.

Bottle courtesy of Andy at Paulís housewarming tasting 2013. Pours a dark brown body with thin, off white lacing. Aroma is full of earthy hops, light pine and espresso. Mouthfeel is medium with coffee/espresso, chocolate malt, and earthy roast dominating the palate. Additional notes of pine and a very muted bitterness.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquor Store in Saanich, B.C. Pours a large, beige frothy head that quickly dissipates. Body is a deep reddish-brown. Nose is alcoholic and pumpkin. The flavour is more refined with a solid malt base but the vegetable and gourd flavours are there; next to no NW hops detected. Its not disagreeable but also is not my idea of a Cascadian Dark Ale, such as Phillips Black Toque.
