2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Spinnakers, pours a hazy orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt, some butterscotch and a touch of diacetyl. Flavour is pretty much identical, with butterscotch, a touch of diacetyl and English bready malt. Clean enough, minus the diacetyl. Not great but not bad.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On draft and on cask at the brewpub in Victoria. Pours a clear amber copper color, with an off white head. Toasted bread, light grass/hay, watery, and grain. A mild, watery, and non offensive offering.

Cuivre/rouge avec un petit col beige. Du malt anglais et un amertume moyen. Une bonne bière pour un bar, mais rein de spéciale.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask @ Spinnakers. The version I tried was dry hopped with Fugles, but I don’t believe that qualifies as a separate listing. Clear amber pour with a thin ring of off-white foam. A lot of bready malt, toast, and fruity esters. Quite sugary, unfortunately. Light grass and earthy hops. Flavor is a touch on the bittern side and slightly astringent. Mild chemical/solvent notes. Fruity (apple and peach) esters, lots of toast, and caramel. Just doesn’t really work.

On tap @Spinnakers. Nutty, caramel, mild yeast, roast malt and prominent British hop. Low carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Smooth-drinking, excellent balance with a dryly bitter finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap. Pours slightly hazy amber with a small wispy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is husky and grainy with some light English hops and some sweet caramel. The flavor is on the sweeter side with some light floral hops, lightly husky finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Below average for the style, too sweet for my tastes.

Cask - Toasted malts and toffee. Clear dark brown with a decent off white head. Roasted malts, nutty and some grain. Very smooth and well balanced, not bitterness but no significant sweetness either. Classic English style. Easy drinking.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Has a velvet-amber body with a decent head, though a little light. Strong swampy aroma with a hint of corn and lemon. Flavour is a lot of lemon-ness with a hint of watery malt and bitter grass on the back end. Doesn’t taste skunked, just tastes unbalanced. Needs a little more of everything.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Decently done. Pours brown clear with lacing and some head. A little bitter, some malt. Not very interesting but that’s the whole style’s goal. Average carbonation. On tap at brewpub.

Bomber. Underwhelming, but hops are nice. Thin, looks like it has crystal malt but surprisingly dry, no personality. I honestly think this was a good beer when it was made but it now tastes stale and oxidized. Hate to be a neophyte saying this about the experts (I can’t see my homebrew rating above a 1), but I think this brewery has a bottling problem.
