GRM (1109), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Jun 22, 2009 Glass, 4-ounce, cask, on the premise, savoured on April 28 2009; eye: reddish golden with yellowish reflections, nice lasting white head, light effervescence, lacing that leaves clouds on the glass; nose: malt, caramel, hops, light Madeira; mouth: velvety, liqueur-like probably because the beer is six-year old, quite smooth, Madeira is supported by the malt, abrupt fall in savours, becomes almost watery, then ends with a hint of bitterness and an even smaller hint of acridness, lightly bitter, medium body, good carbonation; overall: nice surprise

On tap at the brewpub, was quite thin on flavor and texture. Was quite smooth and lacked flaws, but it also lacks anything to write about. Not impressed at all by this one. Very bland. IrishBoy (2509), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draft at the brewpub; Nose is light spices and floral hops; Lightly hazy pale brown with a big, glass-lacing offwhite head; flavor is light hop bitterness, light toffee, and light peppery spices. RileyOBaba (33), , Ohio, USA Jun 27, 2008 ....on draft at the brewpub......a good ESB............slightly better than bottled version.............nice setting overlooking harbor Ungstrup (13388), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 4, 2008 Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet matly with a stinging note of British hops. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw, elderberries, and other spices, leading to a very dry and bitter finish. DuffMan (2548), currently living in NZ, but from, Alberta, Canada Apr 25, 2008 Dark copper amber, aroma of toffee and pear. Toffee body with a nice fruity and leafy hop quality, really delicious!
