An excellent English style bitter. Routinely served at the brewery on tap, but outside of immediate surroundings, this one is most often found in standard 650ml bottles. In recent years I’ve started tackling more and more bitter styled ales and this one sits up amongst the highest tier ales from around the globe. Sadly, it doesn’t receive much recogniition, but that’s undoubtedly a result of the difficulty one can have in tracking this one down. Features an exceptional aroma and flavor that relies heavily on the Cascade, Kent Golding, and North Brewer pitch. These three key components are skillfully blended with English Pale and Crystal Malts that provide a very complex result which provides an intriguing amount of malt flavor yet provide ample room for the flower bouquet to shine through. Pours very clean with a moderate sized head, which disapates slowly leaving a layer of calm foam with periodic large surface bubbling with a tight collar. Lacing is consistent around the glass. Of particular interest was the last 1/6th of the bottle which dispensed a suprising amount of sediment on the last pour. Sediment was very dark and consisted a small dark brown particulate that was suspend for 3-5 minutes before settling at the bottom of the glass. Despite the last pour, the rest of this one was a keeper in every way, shape, and form.

Dark reddish amber appearance. Rich malty, fruity aroma, mild burnt raisin, rugged earthiness. Thickish malt palate but not overly sweet, burnt fruitcake/raisin bread, mildly hoppy bite in the finish. Fruitiness on the palate is fairly rich and complex this really does wrok exceptionally well. Would love to try the cask version.

Color a clear brown-amber, with a moderate head that holds its own in the glass and leaves little doodles on the glass...Aroma is a combination of caramel and light roastiness, very nice for this style ...The flavor features a three-tiered attack of slight malt sweetness, rich-tasting but well-judged roastiness and a round but assertive hop profile; carbonation is appropriately restrained, allowing this flavor-packed package to deliver its payload. The finish is smooth and leaves a pleasant hop dryness that coats the bottom of the palate...Continuous sipping is not a challenge! The body is just on the light side of medium, but it feels just about right, especially with the lively contribution of the hops. Overall, this is an excellent bitter, a well-balanced combination of flavor, refreshment, and smooth refinement...

Cask at the brewery
Rusty brown and dark orange color with a lush tan head on top. Creamy, toasty white bread and biscuit flavors, semi-scratchy palate, but very decent overall, with a pleasent dryness in the finish. Very fresh tasting.

Nice creamy foam head. Body is copper-coulored with a nice malty/flowery aroma. Quite a nice bitter flavour but could have used a bit more hops. I did enjoy the fruity hints to the flavour. Finish is quite nice as the beer further warms. A good beer that I'm glad I can access quite easily.

Amber orange color with tan head & off-white lacing. Nose of malty tangy hops & creamy malts. It’s fairly aged & creamy but meh. I have another bottle I’m going to sit down with by myself.

You can not really go wrong with Spinnakers beer. on opening,a nice malty aroma with hidden floral notes, almost a Belgian style yeast smell in there too. pours a red, dark amber, with a very small ivory head. Taste:wonderful.Sweet malt, orange, wild flowers, then bangs down to a pleasant bitter dry citrus hop finish. Way to drinkable! This has a strong but enjoyable body, lots of authority.

From hand-pump on location. Red-brown, creamy head with lace. Slight fruit (strawberries) and nut taste. Creamy mothfeel. Earthy aftertaste.
