JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Mar 30, 2008 dark black with a thin head light coffee tones . flavour is a little light but smooth and no alc. taste for 7.5 % Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Mar 4, 2008 Thanks to CapFlu for the bomber! Poured deep reddish-brown with a short, fizzy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up large doses of vinegar and dark fruit skins, which was not a good start.. unless you’re looking for a gueuze-y stout (which may not be that bad). The flavor carried through the nose, but it worked slightly better.. lightly-singed sweeter chocolates, molasses, and caramel at the base, with sour darker fruit skins permeating all facets of the drink.. finished sour with a bit of coffee. Again, sour on the palate with dry coffee and grains sticking on the back of the tongue. I’d like to try non-infected bottle or find it on tap. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Plums, raisins and roasted malts in the nose with a bit of a buttery undercurrent. Opaque dark brown body is topped by a low, large bubbled tan-brown head that recedes rapidly to a partial cover and ring. Lots of roasted malts with some raisin-like fruitiness in the flavour. Bitterness is pronounced but buttery character takes the edge off. Slick in texture with moderate carbonation that is somewhat short-lived. Tulip glass. cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Mar-08). Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Feb 25, 2008 Bottle: Poured a nice black with a thin head.
Aroma was light, coffee and dark fruit.
Flavour was a little underwhelming at first but grew into it’s own. Again light coffee tones, some thin hop in the finish but body seemed a little flat.
For 7.5% there was practically no noticable alc flavour or aromas.
Probably better on tap...
Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Dec 10, 2007 Nice looks with even white head, leaving lacing. Aroma is thin and yields to diacetyl at the end. Nuanced flavors go through peaks and valleys with the middle being the least pleasant part. If it weren’t for a few off-notes the stout would have some potential. Low carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Nov 23, 2007 Bottle: Poured a clear black color stout with a big dark foamy head with some good retention and small ring of lacing. Aroma consisted of vinous notes with some sourness. Taste was also dominated by some sourness and some rotten grain. Body was thin and watery. No traces of roasted malt or hops were discernable. This appeared to be a bad bottle and based on prior ratings seems there is quite a few out there. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2007 on hand pump-pours a tan head and brown color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/molasses, some biscuit/oatmeal, fruit. Taste is dark malt, dark fruit-raisin, some biscuit/oatmeal, fruit. Occasional. Mild/minimum carbonation.
