A burgundy accent to the dark brown body. Loose head. Almond shell, hints of herbs, a bit of roast and light diacetyl feature in the nose. Sweet flavour with only hints of roast and chocolate.

Plums, raisins and roasted malts in the nose with a bit of a buttery undercurrent. Opaque dark brown body is topped by a low, large bubbled tan-brown head that recedes rapidly to a partial cover and ring. Lots of roasted malts with some raisin-like fruitiness in the flavour. Bitterness is pronounced but buttery character takes the edge off. Slick in texture with moderate carbonation that is somewhat short-lived. Tulip glass. cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Mar-08).

Thanks to CapFlu for the bomber! Poured deep reddish-brown with a short, fizzy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up large doses of vinegar and dark fruit skins, which was not a good start.. unless you’re looking for a gueuze-y stout (which may not be that bad). The flavor carried through the nose, but it worked slightly better.. lightly-singed sweeter chocolates, molasses, and caramel at the base, with sour darker fruit skins permeating all facets of the drink.. finished sour with a bit of coffee. Again, sour on the palate with dry coffee and grains sticking on the back of the tongue. I’d like to try non-infected bottle or find it on tap.

Sampled @ Spinnakers. Very dark brown, creamy brown head Roast coffee&chocolate flavor, light sugary. Bitter roast in the nose. Medium mellow mouthfeel. Fairly acidic aftertaste.

(Draught) Similar to the Irish Stout but supposedly more malty and higher ABV. Thin, near headless with a clear deep reddish-brown body. Nose is very roasted and fronted with a mild molasses. Thin texture while the flavour is watery. Mildly coffee, burnt brown sugar and roasted malts. The bartender said there would be more chocolate in the palate but I detected none. Really nothing spectacular - but I’m glad to see the new brewer doing his own thing.

Should have gone to the Museum while I was there! Glass at the pub. Black with a creamy head. Light body. Coffee with lots of sourness takes some getting used to, perhaps. Looking at the first 8 ratings for this beer not all mention this sour character.

Nice looks with even white head, leaving lacing. Aroma is thin and yields to diacetyl at the end. Nuanced flavors go through peaks and valleys with the middle being the least pleasant part. If it weren’t for a few off-notes the stout would have some potential. Low carbonation, soft mouthfeel.
