Cask@Kavanaghs. Jet black pour, decent tan head. Aroma: roasted malt, bitter coffee, chicory, black pepper, smoky bbq. Taste: smoky, meaty, sweet from the malty/fruit sweetness. Pepper in abundance. Hint of "old" coffee. Really good.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 1/20 arrogantb (1398) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Got a small glass of this from a bottle a friend brought back from England. Dark black, standard stout appearance. Smell of strong black pepper and nothing else, not good. The flavor was pure black pepper, overwhelming and disgusting. This was one of the worst beers I have tasted in my life, so bad.

Cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - a good solid, meaty stout, with a good smoky taste. looks good with the black body and lasting tan head, but not much of the promised pepper. Good. Very good.

Peppery obviously, dry, ok at first but had had enough by the end. Not for me I’m afraid
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tombyars (1205) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAR 6, 2012
Tasted this at the Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in April 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull black in colour with a open white head. Strong overpowering aroma of black pepper. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a vague maltloaf base with beef olive spices to the fore. Hop resins compliment the pepper in the aftertaste surprisingly well. Warm tingling flavour of spice through to the finish. Never a classic session stout though - one is enough.

Sheffield. Black with small but firm brown head. Sweet malty aroma, with some choclated, roasted notes and licorice. Flavour is more itnense than the aroma. Roasted malt, chocolate, quite bitter. Nice.

Off tap at the three tuns chesterfield. Pours thick and dark with a small white head. A nice tingle of pepper on the tongue not too much. Served a bit too cold for much more flavour.
