COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A robust dark stout. Roast barley, chocolate and coffee flavours give a very full body and a smooth lingering finish.

Cask at the Le Gothiques Halloween Beer Festival 2013. Poured a dark brown with a thin beige head and good lacing. Aroma of plumbs, hay and some tobacco. Flavours of redcurrents, molasses and apple pie. Dark malt on the finish with notes of grass and earth.

BlackHaddock (3598) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - NOV 20, 2013
Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown, Oakengates: 19th Nov 13. Pours a good solid, deep, dark brown, on top a tanned foaming head. Over roasted malts rule the nose: coffee with dark fruits on a chocolate bar. The taste was also leaning towards a coffee flavour with again dark fruit and chocolate notes: dry and semi-bitter finish. OK, there are some good Stouts out there at the moment, add this to your list of ones to try.

Leighton (10675) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2013
Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clearish brown with a fine, tan foam head. Nice roasted coffee aroma. Light sweet flavor with moderate roast, more coffee, light bitterness, mocha, mild burnt rubber. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with dry chocolate, fine roast, some earthy coffee. Good.

Pint at the Nags Head in Reading. Black with a fair head on it. Roasty, with a hint of chocolate and a nice balance to it. The aroma is again chocolatey with roasted malt. All in all, pretty tasty.

Cask @ Ye Cracke, Liverpool 040112
Very dark ruby brown. dense white head, some lacing
Aroma - Fruity dark malts, tad vinous
Taste of roasted malts, quite a lot of roast but quite fruity too, some roast coffee, red berries, chocolate, a touch vinous, tasty beer
Palate - Medium body, smooth. Finish of fruity chocolate, dry linger, bit too dry
Overall - Decent stout with that fruitness, not sure if its supposed to have that vinous edge but finish a bit too dry for me

Cask@lychegatetavern, wolverhampton. Very dark brown with coffee froth head. Aroma of coffee. Taste is of dry coffee and dark fruits with a touch of dark chocolate. Body is too thin for a stout. An ok stout.

Cask at GBBF 2011. Black color. Aromas of coffee and licorice. Dry coffeish flavor, brings grassy old coffee to mind. Tastes flat.

Ive now had this at their brewpub and a few times at JDW. Very dark with a beautiful mocha head. Huge dark chocolate notes on the nose that continue in the mouth, along with plenty of coffee and dark fruits. Packs a decent punch for the ABV, but it does feel slightly thin at times. A real winner though: a creamy and satisfying stout that keeps you coming back for more.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Dark brown with a slight red tinge. Pleasant roasty aroma with some powdery chocolate and a touch of bitter coffee. Thinner on the palate. Dry and a little dusty. Not enough body to fully deliver on the promise of the aroma. Still pretty decent though.
