Pint at the Nags Head in Reading. Black with a fair head on it. Roasty, with a hint of chocolate and a nice balance to it. The aroma is again chocolatey with roasted malt. All in all, pretty tasty.

Cask @ Ye Cracke, Liverpool 040112
Very dark ruby brown. dense white head, some lacing
Aroma - Fruity dark malts, tad vinous
Taste of roasted malts, quite a lot of roast but quite fruity too, some roast coffee, red berries, chocolate, a touch vinous, tasty beer
Palate - Medium body, smooth. Finish of fruity chocolate, dry linger, bit too dry
Overall - Decent stout with that fruitness, not sure if it’s supposed to have that vinous edge but finish a bit too dry for me

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Nocturne (383) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - JAN 14, 2012
I’ve now had this at their brewpub and a few times at JDW. Very dark with a beautiful mocha head. Huge dark chocolate notes on the nose that continue in the mouth, along with plenty of coffee and dark fruits. Packs a decent punch for the ABV, but it does feel slightly thin at times. A real winner though: a creamy and satisfying stout that keeps you coming back for more.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Dark brown with a slight red tinge. Pleasant roasty aroma with some powdery chocolate and a touch of bitter coffee. Thinner on the palate. Dry and a little dusty. Not enough body to fully deliver on the promise of the aroma. Still pretty decent though.

Cask (GBBF2011, Friday)
Black, tight tan head. Rich roasty aroma. Thinner in the mouth then the aroma promised. Yes, it’s roasty, but nothing holding it together. No real flaws, but disappointing compared with what I was hoping for.
