May 22, 2009 Beer poured a rich black color. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of molasses. Flavor a great balance of chocolate and coffee with just the right amount of hops in the finish. This ranks up there with Kostritzer Schwarzbier!

May 21, 2009 Bottle. Played beer pong with this after Ive waited to get my hands on this for over a year... IDIOT! but desperate times call for desperate measures. Pours blackish. Tastes of roasted malts, tons of smoked bacon. Interesting but not what I picture as a schwartzy.

May 16, 2009 Courtesy of qmeister. Black porter-like color with a thin off-white head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, and caramel. Creamy. Flavor caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, decent lacing. Porter-like consistency. Very nice beer!

May 7, 2009 bottle thanks to GMCC2181. poured black with a beige head. aroma was wet grains, dark roasts, and caramel. flavor was dark roasts, grains, caramel, and chocolate. light body and high carbonation.

May 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to GMCC2181. Pours a deep dark brown/black with red hues and tan head. Aroma of obvious chocolate, rich caramel, some coffee. Flavor is is the same, a tad more coffee though....Mouth feel is medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed this....some good shit!

Apr 30, 2009 16 oz. bottle courtesy of Neil. Dark cola-like pour with a creamy head (oddly reminiscent of their root beer). Sweet aroma of caramel and maple syrup. Flavor of roasted malt, toffee, and dark chocolate. If you asked me blindly to tell you what beer style this was I probably could not. Sort of a cross between a dopplebock and a porter. Not as sweet as a dopplebock and not as roasty as a porter. Overall a very good beer.

Apr 29, 2009 Pours black with a little red tint at the edges with a quick fading head. Aroma is roasted malts with some chocolate. There is also some random cardboard scent. Taste is chocolate up front with lots of roasty malts. Not too complex. Mouthfeel is pretty thin. Overall, not too bad, but I would question getting this again..

Apr 15, 2009 Dark almost black color. It pours cleanly with a low head that diminishes as quickly as it arrives.
Smooth and sweet with a heavy caramel odor and flavor. It looks light almost lacking in the creamy frothy appeal expected in beer with such a reputation.
